OPI Liquid Sand Nail Art...and Giving Thanks!

Hello my little turkeys....yes I have Thanksgiving on the brain! I am waking up at 5 and shoving a big ass bird into my oven. Just another day at the YWP compound!

So I sat down to do my nails and surprisingly I was in the mood for sparkles....but dark sparkles. I was a bit perplexed until I remembered one little beauty of mine that would work perfectly!

 To create this hot mama, I used Essie Glamour Purse as a base on every nail except my ring finger. This beauty is quickly nudging Mink Muffs out of the #1 spot of my most loved brown polish. I was never one for murky browns but for some reason we now are best friends and even wearing matching outfits....can you say twinning?

I then pulled out the star of the show....OPI What Wizardry is This? and got down to bid-nass! I taped off my index and pinky nails with striping tape and applied one thin layer of WWIT. My middle finger was happy to sport some simple dots and we left it at that! I loved this color so much that I had to put it on my ring finger all by itself. Sometimes polishes are so gorgeous that they should be left untouched and this baby beater is one of those shades. I cannot wait to do a full mani with just this color.

So you're probably thinking....um excuse me woman but why is your Liquid Sand polish not liquid sandy at all? I couldn't resist...I had to pull out the Seche Vite and gloss everything up! I do like this one as a textured polish but tonight I was craving sparkles (which is rare so I had to ride that train as far as I could) and I knew top coating her would result in glittery brown goodness.

Can you even stand how beautiful this polish is? I do feel a bit bad showing this hot mama off considering it was in a collection that was out quite a while ago...Oz The Great and Powerful to be exact. Buuuuuut....I checked online and this is readily available on Amazon and Ebay so if you need a fix a fix you shall have!

I haven't used too many textured polishes but out of the ones I have tried, this sexpot has the best formula by far of any of them!! This polish basically applies itself! If you love textured polishes, WWIT is a must have! Put down the turkey leg and get to shopping!

For all of my American peeps, have a kick ass Thanksgiving!! This year I am thankful for 3 healthy children who keep me stepping and a husband who adores me! I also am incredibly thankful for all of you. As cliche as it sounds, I can't imagine my life without all of you and I thank God everyday for the success I am having in the beauty world and the loyal people who come with it!! I tell you guys all the time how much I love you and I honestly do! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of the inspiration, encouragement and friendship that you have all brought into my life! I'm thoroughly enjoying every second of the roller coaster ride that is Young Wild and Polished!!

Everything but the Kitchen Sink Nail Art...

Hello my kittens, can you believe 2 posts in 2 days....am I running a fever or what?? Nope, just addicted to my new laptop...I swear I could post 10 blogs a day just so I could play on Maxine (yes she has a name....address her correctly or face the consequences)!

For some reason I find myself reserving my blog for nail art and my YouTube channel seems to be mostly about makeup (with a bit of polish thrown in). This is just how my pin sized brain works....I really need to merge the 2....can I make a New Year's resolution in November? Tomorrow's video is going to be my November favorites so I think it would be the perfect time to get these 2 working together....stay tuned to see me try to get my shit together!

Alright, enough talky talky, let's get to the naily naily...oh Lord that was cheese ball even for me!

So this is what happens when I can't make up my mind about nail art....

A little kitchen sink mani for my friends....if you aren't familiar with the term, allow me to explain! A kitchen sink mani is basically a name I came up with for nail art that includes everything but the dang kitchen sink. It's my most favorite kind of nail art to do....for one, I can never make up my mind, and two, I love the chaos that is a KSM.

For this lovely lady we have some stripes done with (of course) striping tape, a little splatter, glitter and dots, because every good KSM includes dots!!

On my index finger, I started with a base of Essie Blanc, topped that with Seche Vite and once it was dry, I laid down striping tape and finished off with Nails Inc. Black Taxi. I will link my striping tape tutorial at the end for those of you interested.

My ring finger is a splatter mani, the easiest type of nail art to do! I used Nails Inc. Baker St, Essie Mojito Madness and Nails Inc. Black Taxi. 

On my thumb I dotted some hella large dots on a black base using Sinful Colors Sail la Vie. 

OPI Crown Me Already on my pinky and Essie She's Pampered on my middle finger complete this chaotic little sugar bomb.

My New Favorite Polish....and Of Course...Nail Art!

Hello lovers...I had to tear myself away from a Breaking Bad marathon to do this post but it's alright, I'm not bitter or anything. Kidding, kidding, keep your panties on kids. I AM obsessed with the show but it's on disk so all is well in the world of YWP.

The reason for this 2 am blogging fest is a polish...of course! I purchased this polish today and I am head over mother lovin heels for it!

Feast your eyeballs on this beauty...

This, my friends, is Sally Hansen Loden Green and it is my newest obsession! I'm referring to the poopy green color by the way. I guess it's more of an army green but for some reason all I can think of is a diaper when I look at it. And I'm ok with that!

Seriously though, this color is gorgeous...it's perfect for this time of year and has a kick ass formula to boot! 2 coats and a little Seche Vite and I was golden. I added a little splatter on my ring finger using Essie Licorice and Essie Blanc, along with the camo queen. My middle finger is Nails Inc Noho, a textured black that adds just the right amount of edge to this mani.

Loden Green is from Sally Hansen's new fall line. I must say I was not too impressed with the collection until I met this little gem. I will certainly be doing lots of vampy mani's with this beauty all season long!

Striping Tape Mania....and a Beautiful Bargain!

Hello friendships, hope you're all doing well, smacking mama's and such. I am doing great, especially after the little polish gem I found a few days ago....don't fret, you're getting in on the action right now!!

The 2 mani's I'm going to share started with one little polish that cost me a whopping dollar! I fell in love with the baby from the second I saw it sitting in Kmart all alone, just waiting to be taken home and loved.

Violence in a bottle!

It's so gorgeous, I just want to slap a newborn! This, my friends, is Wet n Wild Teal Slowly and See.... possibly the best bright blue polish I own....did I mention this cost as much as a Mcdonald's Double Cheeseburger? 

The color is divine, I suddenly have the urge to pack up my super uncool tankini and head to the Caribbean! But....the formula is also perfect! Opaque in 2 coats, no streaking, no patchiness, just smooth buttery goodness!

This little lady is limited edition so get your pants on and get rollin. The Wet n Wild Pop Art Collection won't be around forever....you can bet the farm I'm stock piling this beauty!

This little vixen inspired 2 fun manicures....

It's been awhile since I've done a kitchen sink mani...everything but the kitchen sink...and I certainly satisfied my urge with this design!

My index and middle finger are just 2 different designs I made while playing around with the striping tape. Both had the pleasure of wearing Teal Slowly and See...on my index finger I started with a base of Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet and on my middle finger the base was Essie Blanc. My ring finger is a gradient of TSAS and Mint Sorbet. I topped it off with INM Northern Lights, a really pretty and subtle glitter topper. 

My pinky finger is one of my favorite silver glitters, OPI Crown Me Already, a beautiful micro glitter with larger glittery pieces throughout. The formula is awesome, 2 coats and she's totes opaque...and oh so mama slappin shimmery! 

Everything got a good smearing of Seche Vite and I was on to the next.

The next little number is another fun one....

Yep there's that blue beauty again!! And I had to add a little sass to it, you know me! Although this polish is so gorgeous, I'm just fine with wearing it alone!

On my middle finger, I layered on 2 coats of China Glaze Some Like It Haute, a beautiful black based glitter polish with silver flecks scattered all about.  I forgot how gorgeous this was...so glad I dusted her off and gave her some work! My ring finger is what I refer to as a "dry marble". It's extremely easy to do...simply put on your base color...a bit thicker than you normally would (black in this case) then immediately put droplets of another color (Teal Slowly) on your nail and swirl with a toothpick. It really is a simple design to do, the main part is getting the droplets blended while your base color is still nice and wet.

This is one of those designs that even if you mess up a bit, it still looks super cool....the dry marble is so forgiving!!

I've definitely found my polish obsession of the month! I could wear this polish everyday and be perfectly content (at least for a week or two, come on...this nail whore can only take so much)!!

Color Club Blue-Ming All Day Err Day

Hi muffins, I was thinking about skipping nail art tonight, but I just couldn't resist.  I'm currently hooked, I mean majorly hooked on a nail polish.  Ever get that way with a specific color? You just can't stop thinking about it, it makes you all warm and fuzzy inside. Anyone else? Anyone?

Maybe I'm a nut....wait, I think we figured that out in post #1....either way, I'm in lurve with a color and I must share with my friends....

I actually did 2 manicures with this baby this week....

Mmmhhmmm, momma smacking at it's finest!  The beauty I'm speaking of is Color Club Blue-Ming, a gorgeous bright mint green color. I've owned this little lady for over a year and decided to dust it off and finally give it some love. And oh baby, am I glad I did! The formula is pretty good, a bit streaky but evens out nicely on it's own. Topped with Seche Vite, this baby is perfect!

The nail art I did with this was my same ol' "Diamond Nail". I used Sation Tardy Tart which just happens to be my favorite polish of 2012.  The most perfect purple evaa!!

Since I'm totally obsessed with Blue-Ming, I decided to slap that puppy on my nails again and add some nail art (yawn) of course!

I love these colors together, definitely one of my favorite combinations! It's been awhile since I've done my trademark flowers so I decided to go all out and put those petals on all my digits. The only thing I need now is a Pina Colada and a supermodel's body to put into this bikini that's gathering dust in my top drawer.

The flowers were done with Essie Orange It's Obvious...

The flower center's were done with Essie Blanc, the greatest white polish to ever roam the Earth!

Pastel Dotticure.....and a blog update!

Have I mentioned that I hate technology? Our internet has been out for um, about 10 days and I'm going quite insane!  Luckily I can set up a hotspot (foxy brown reference anyone? Am I alone in this?) but it sucks up all my data....that's alright though, it's worth it for you all!

Anywhoo's, I've missed you guys!  But I'm here now, so less talky and more naily naily!

I did this little dotticure a few days ago, and absolutely looooved how it turned out!  Check it out and tell me what you guys think!

Mmmmmm hmmmmm, pertty right?  I used Julie G Gelato, Essie Tart Deco and Essie East Hampton Cottage (ring finger base).  I love how the colors just work so well together!

If you guys haven't tried Julie G polishes you must! It's an order!  The formula is amazing and there are some pretty sweet colors to choose from!  I probably own about 30 of them and love em all!  

You guys already know how I feel about Essie so I won't even go there! Perfection as usual, although I must say, East Hampton Cottage is really sheer.  I had to do 4 coats to get it just right, but it was worth it!  So pearly and gorgeous!

I'm going to try to kind of tie my posts in with my Youtube channel.  If I do a video on concealer, I'll follow it up with a blog post to go along with it.  I think it will make my blog a lot more "necessary" if that makes sense and it's something I've been wanting to do!  Don't worry though, there will still be a ton of nail art, that is something that will never change!

Hopefully my internet issues will be resolved soon.  Either that or I have to hit the lottery to fund my hotspot necessities!

Striping Tape Bonanza!!

Hello my little kittens, how are we on this balmy (and by balmy I mean hot as a donkey's butt crack) evening?  We are currently in the middle of a heatwave in PA and I couldn't be happier!  Even though I'm sweating in places I've never before sweated I'm still as enamored as a pig in mud!

I've been doing lots of mani's with striping tape lately.  I dig it....and I can't seem to get enough of it.  These 2 little numbers I'm sharing today are pretty mama smacking fun, if you ask me!  (yes I'm partial, deal with it ;)

Behind Door #1 we have....

I really do like this one...it's a bit different from what I normally do, I really went to town with the striping tape but I'm happy with how it turned out!

I used Essie Cascade Cool for my base color.  I put my striping tape down and finished off with one coat of Essie Raspberry.  On my ring finger I went with a polish I haven't used in a loooong time, Essie Beyond Cozy.  I wanted to use shades I don't normally use, and I don't think I've laid a hand on any of these lovelies in quite the long time!  Seche Vite topped everything off as usual!

After I got done smacking a newborn, I decided to ride the striping tape train right into the station and keep this shizz going....

Isn't it amazing what different lighting can do to polish?  The first picture is in my regular light and the second shade is in a bit of a brighter light.  Not sure why I went this route, but I did so we're just gonna go with it.

I looooove these 2 colors together!! Essie Demure Vix and Essie Island Hopping go together like peanut butter and jelly, rice and beans, strawberries and cream....shall I go on?  Dang it, now I'm hungry!

Demure Vix is the lighter of the 2 shades, a bit of a pearlized pale pink if you will.  I remember this being one of my first Essie "loves".  This shade looks amazing on it's own, so classy while still being super young and fun. (oh wow, I thought we were talking about me for a second and not the polish!!)  

Island Hopping is an older Essie that I picked up in the discount bin at Marshall's.  If you ever see this polish out and about, snatch her up!  The formula is awesome and I really love the unique shade!

Hope you guys aren't getting sick of all this striping tape fun that's been going on lately!  I'm sure I'll move on to something else soon enough!

So a Jelly and a Cream Walk into a Bar......Essie Bouncer It's Me

Hey loves, everyone ready for the weekend? I know I am!  I'm going to a winery with my mama tomorrow so I'm excited for a grown up beverage and some QT with the mom dukes!  Any exciting plans for any of you lovelies?

So when I sat down tonight to do ma nails, I knew what color I wanted to use but I didn't know what kind of nail art I wanted to add.  I settled on a simple little dotticure and I think it turned out pretty (mama smackin) well!  You be the judge....

First off, can we please take a minute for this amazingly gorgeous color.  Ok now that we got that out of the way....can someone please punch me in the face?  I can't take it, it's too pretty.  Must...get...violent.  Someone bring me a baby to slap around.

Essie Bouncer It's Me is the name of this little beauty and let me tell you what....everytime I wear her, I love the color more and more.  The formula is kind of a mix between a jelly and a cream (a crelly) and I absolutely love it.  She does require 3 pretty decent coats which usually I would say....ain't nobody got time fo that BUT with this gorgeous girl I really don't mind.  The formula is quite nice, a typical crelly....sheer at first but builds up nicely to perfect squishy jelly filled heaven.

The ring finger is a typical YWP dotticure.  I did the ol' 5 dot flowers in Essie Blanc then popped a dot in the center with Lime Crime Crema de Limon. Seche Vite topped off the whole shebang.

I didn't want to take away from the incredible color so I kept it short and sweet. Sometimes less is more, especially with a sexy little number like Bouncer. Honestly I could wear this on it's own and be perfectly content.

Battle of the Beauties....Essie VS Loreal

Hi love bugs, hope you're all having a (mama) smashing day!  I'm finally starting to feel back to my old crazy self again.  Summer colds just kick your butt don't they?  Hopefully I'm free and clear til winter now (yuck there's that word again, winter)  *shiver*

So I don't have any nail art for you little bears today but I do have something a bit new....I've noticed a lot of polishes lately that are so similar (something we, in the beauty world refer to as dupes) and I want to share with you all which ones are worth the money and which one's should be left in the dust.  So "Battle of the Beauties" will be a reoccurring theme when I find 2 lovelies that require head to head (or brush to brush) battle!  I knew these 2 ladies would be my first victims....they are insanely similar yet so very far apart!!

In the east corner, wearing the peach trunks....ok ok, I won't do it, but I am so tempted to!

This is the Loreal Macaroon Me Madly. She's a newcomer to the blog but her competitor has been here before....do you know who I'm talking about yet? My old friend Essie Van D'Go, anyone else with me on this?  I just featured her on the blog not too long ago.  Let's have a peeky poo at Vandy (as I like to call her) and see what the dilly is.

Come On!!! Could they not be twinsies? Color is pretty much spot on!  The Loreal polish is a teensy weensy bit lighter but it's ever so slight!

Here they are side by side, you be the judge!

Definitely could be sisters!  If you're wondering which one to purchase, allow me to help....

The formula on Essie Van D'Go is 100 times, 1000 times, a gagillion times better!  She is opaque in 2 coats, where little Miss Macaroon required 4.  Ain't nobody got time for 4 coats! Both colors are indeed stunning but the work I had to put into Macaroon me Madly to get this outcome was no joke!  She was a bit streaky and seriously bitchy. (if a polish can be bitchy, this one certainly was!!)

Vandy is definitely the winner of this battle royale!  She is so opaque, wears amazingly well, and isn't the least bit bitchy!  She doesn't feel the need to streak or get super high maintenance and require more than 2 coats....ever!  I know I'm usually partial to Essie but I stayed neutral for this one. The formula on Macaroon was just so mediocre (at best) that it wasn't even hard to choose.

There you have it kids, if you were lemming either of these 2 beauties, there is no question in my mind which one you should take home with you! Leave Ms. Macaroon at the store....at least she'll be able to boss the other polishes around and release some of that built up diva behavior!

And by the way, let me just say that I am in no way sponsored by Essie.  Someone asked me that once since I use them and rave about them so often.  I wish I was (hey Essie, hook a sister up) but I'm just a nail freak who happens to love her Essie's.

Essie Watermelon Nail Art.....Kinda Sorta?!

Hi kiddos, I'm sorry I've been MIA for a few days, I have been sick as a dog!  I finally went to the dr and (just as I suspected) I have strep throat and a really killer cold.  So I've been resting and trying to get better.  My poor nails have been bare for 2 days....I couldn't take it any longer so I composed myself and got crackin, bunny slippers, robe and all!

The nail art I did kind of turned out a bit like watermelon nails, even though that wasn't what I had in mind...

I know this pic is a bit off center....I'm blaming the cold medicine!

Watermelon-licious?  I didn't even realize it until a few of you on Instagram commented.  This is probably one of my favorite mani's I've done in 2013!  I just love how the pink polka dotted nails resemble ladybugs but also remind me of watermelon.....either way it's something summery!  And I think the green plays really well with the pink...ohhhh I just really like it all! Not to toot my own horn or anything (toot) but I do think this turned out pretty derrrn cute!

I used all Essie's. You're shocked you say?  Wake up and smell the crazy, I'm addicted to Essie polish and ain't nothin gon' change that, ya hear?  They just work so well together and are perfect for doing nail art!

The beautiful bright green shade is The More the Merrier, the fun pink is Bottle Service and the black shade is my go to Licorice.  Can I just quickly say that the formula on The More the Merrier is insanely perfect.  Smooth, opaque in 2 coats and so bright and summer-ific (yes it's a word...it is...you can trust me). I will most definitely be using this hot little lady a LOT this season!!

For the polka dot nails, I used a small dotting tool and just went to town. (excuse me, Dot used a small dotting tool and went to town).  Such a diva, I swear!

For the middle finger, I painted the entire nail black and topped it with Seche Vite.  After about 10 minutes, I put 1 piece of striping tape down the center of my nail diagonally and added 1 coat of The More the Merrier to the top half of my nail.  I immediately removed the striping tape, topped with more Seche Vite and Voila!

Ms. Pinky (get it Ms. Pinky like Ms. Piggy, not funny...sheesh... tough crowd) is probably my favorite nail of the bunch.  After I put down a base of The More the Merrier and Seche Vite, I added striping tape in diagonal stripes, added a decent coat of Licorice and removed the tape.  Seche Vite topped everything off as usual!

I am so into summer nails!  I am dreading summer just flying by and before you know it, I will be doing Christmas nails.  I am going to enjoy every mama slapping second of neons, bright pinks and yes watermelon nails!

Oh and if you haven't slapped someone around you yet....what the flip are you waiting for?  Get to beating and make mama proud!  (just don't come after me with that fist). Dang heathens!

Elle Polish and a Mish Mash of Nail Art!

Hi kittens, hope you're all having a fantabulous day!  I'm getting ready to film a haul video (with a little surprise ending) and clean my house.  Very very exciting I know!  The life of a beauty blogger/Youtuber....

So I got a few new polishes at Kohl's the other day.  They recently started carrying the Elle line of polishes and I must say, I am highly impressed!  I have about 6 of them and the formula on them all is quite amazing, not to mention some really beautiful color selections!

I knew I wanted to try this cornflower blue beauty as soon as I got her home....of course I had to add some Essie and a bit of nail art for you little nail freaks....

Ah yes, a typical mama smacker!  This turned out WAAAY better than I had pictured it in my head!  

I used Elle Ship Shape, Essie Off the Shoulder, a bit of Essie Blanc and INM Northern Lights. 

My middle finger is definitely my favorite of the bunch!  And it was quite easy to do....I used a base of Off the Shoulder, then put down some striping tape in rows, and topped it with 1 coat of Ship Shape.  

My ring finger is a "cloud mani" and on my thumb we have some simple dots that I did with a medium sized dotting tool.  Everything got a good coating of Seche Vite, which I'm sure you all know I would sell my first born for!  Tutorials for all of these looks are on my YouTube page if anyone is interested!

Have you guys tried any of these Elle polishes?  They can be found at Kohl's and let me tell you what....they are certainly worth taking a look at!  They wear great with very little chipping, even after a few days!  And there are some really gorgeous colors to choose from!

4th of July Fireworks....on the 5th?!

Hello you little firecrackers!  I know, I know, July 4th was yesterday but I did a bit of festive nail art and of course I'm a day late and a dollar short.  Seems to be the norm for me.  I was going to just forget about doing this post since I missed the holiday and all (for my US peeps) but I decided I can still share some fun nail art even if you have to save it til next year!

I knew I wanted to do something red, white and blue for Independence Day.  I love the holiday, we always grill out and have friends over.  I also make my kids wear red, white and blue, usually in a matchy matchy sort of way and they get super annoyed but who's the boss here? Big Momma that's who!

These are the nail's I sported for the 4th, and I must say, they got loads of attention from friends and family.  I almost had to pull out the striping tape at one point, my niece was so enamored with my nails, she insisted I hook her up.  Luckily I distracted her with a hot dog and a sparkler.....

Pretty patriotic eh?  I did this color combo specifically for the 4th, but I actually would rock this on a daily basis, Independence Day or not.  I love how it resembles fireworks, which is exactly what my little pinhead had in mind!

I used Essie Snap Happy as a base on all of my fingers except for my ring finger.  I applied 2 coats then topped them all with Seche Vite.  On my middle finger I slapped a little Essie Stroke of Brilliance on and called it a day.  For my index and pinky I pulled out the striping tape and got down to bidnass!  I arranged them to look like fireworks then put 1 coat of Nails Inc Baker St. on top.  I carefully removed the tape and topped those beauties with Seche Vite.

My ring finger is the same ol' dotticure I seem to do quite a bit.  I just think it adds such a fun vibe to any mani ANDDD it's super easy.  Different sized dots all over the nail....what could be simpler?  There is a tutorial on my YouTube channel if you need a little bit of help!

And if you're ever curious about my thumb, which for some unknown reason, I failed to photograph (camera shy finger, what can I say), I usually "style" her the same as my ring finger.  That seems to be the norm for most of my manicures.  I will try to do better and include that little lady in future snapshots!

Essie Van D'Go and a Sassy Camera Shy Neon!

Hi guys!! *waves furiously*  I have been sleeping like crap lately and I feel like my entire "routine" is a bit willy nilly, if you know what I mean. One little hiccup and the whole day goes to hell in a hand basket.

Anywhoo, I did a few swatches for you lovely people.....it's been a while since I've sat down and just tried a color without going balls to the wall with nail art.  *gasp*  No nail art?! Nope, not tonight, but don't fret my pets, I have a super fun 4th of July post coming up in the next day or so with lots of nail art madness!

The first act of the night is Essie Van D'Go:

Suddenly I feel like beating a baby....is that wrong of me?

This little gem is a classic!  This was one of my first ever Essie polishes.  I wore this before I was nail polish obsessed!  Yes, there was a time I walked this earth and didn't think about polish 23 out of 24 hours of the day.  It was a sad sad time and we won't talk about it.  :)

This polish reminds me a lot of one of my all times faves, Essie Fiji but it's a bit more on the peachy side of the rainbow.  She is totes opaque (yes I said totes, shoot me) in 2 coats and the formula is great.  Most milky pinks tend to be streaky and a real pain in the arse but not this little lady!  I had no issues with streaking (she kept her clothes on the whole time) or those dreaded "bald" spots.  Definitely will be seeing this beauty in my July favorites!

Next up is a gorgeous polish that is a bit camera shy and none too photogenic, China Glaze I'm with the Lifeguard:

This typical neon pageant queen took one look at my camera and gave it the middle finger!  She was not interested in smiling or posing.  I even tried dancing a stuffed animal above the lens while saying, "lifeguard look at mommy, come on, look at mommy". Yeah no luck.... she called me a bitch and told me to take a hike.  Ungrateful little heifer.

Either way she is a gorgeously perfect polish!  A bit brighter in person but what's a little "not perfectly true to color" between friends.....can you tell I"m a bit OCD when it comes to making sure you guys get perfectly spot on pictures?

This polish is the bomb.com, there I said it....the freaking bombdotfreakingcom.  Nobody does summer neons like China Glaze, nobody at all. This hot mama is from last year's collection but ever so worthy of a 2013 appearance!!  Every summer they come out with an amazing summer line of polishes!  I look forward to it every year!  I do have an entire post coming up dedicated to the beauty that is the China Glaze Summer Neon 2013 line!  IT...IS...AMAZING!!

The formula on this little shy girl was typical of neon polish....sheer but easily buildable.  I used 3 coats for the above picture.  Other than that the formula was great!  Easy peasy lemon squeezey!  This is a beautiful color to wear on toes with a little bit of a tan....I can already feel my hand tingling with mama smacking excitement!

I am loving summer so much and I am totally (I already used up my "totes" quota for the night) taking advantage of neons and gorgeous summery shades!  

What are you guys loving for summer?  Do you lean more toward girly pinks or "in your face" neons?  I can't choose, you guys know I love em all!  If it's in a glass bottle and has a little brush, I will put it on one of my ten appendages!

Bestie Twin Nails with Armstrong Amber!

Hi buttercups, how are we all on this lovely summer day?  I never want it to end...every morning I wake up and feel slightly sad cause I know we are one day closer to winter.  Blah!  I am definitely loving every second of this hot gorgeous summer weather.  If only PA would be warm all year, that would make me one happy little nail whore.

Nails Nicole, nails....

So my lovely friend Amber (on the streets we call her Armstrong Amber, you know how we roll) and I decided to jump on the twinsie nail train and ride that sucker into the sunset.  If you have no idea what I'm talking about (happens alot, I'm starting to develop a complex) allow me to explain.  Bestie twin nails, bestie twinsies, best friends for life ride or die bitches, whatever you'd like to call it is something that started on Instagram (I think) and is a fun and simple way to showcase nail art and friendship.  2 or more girls get together and plan a manicure to do together using similar colors and designs.  The finished product is a big fat bestie twin sandwich!

Amber and I have made this a monthly thing so you will be getting BT nails once a month! ( I couldn't bring myself to say bestie twin again).  This is what we came up with for June....

Pretty dang cute eh?  Amber's beauties are on top and mine are on the bottom.

We used Essie Off the Shoulder, Essie Mint Candy Apple, and China Glaze Glistening Snow.

The gradient is very simple to do even though it looks a bit tricky.  I put down a white base and topped it with Seche Vite.  After that was dry (about 15 minutes) I took a damp makeup sponge and added my 2 Essie colors.  I dabbed that onto my nail a few times, let it dry and did a second layer.  Seche Vite on top and you're good to go!  I will have a tutorial coming up on my YouTube channel (youngwildandpolished) very soon!

Time for a Splatter Mani...and an Old Favorite!

Hi chipmunks, hope you're all feel young, wild and polished tonight....oh LAWWWD Nicole, that is super cheesy even for you! (Sorry that was just Dot telling me off yet again)

I was feeling like a splatter mani last night...it's been a hot minute since I did one.  So I got out my overall's and got down to bidness. (yes overall's are necessary for nail art, no judgement please)

Did you slap your mama yet?  If not, then may I ask why the flip not?  Splatter mani's always get me....they are so super simple to do and they look so fun and on trend especially for summer!

I used all Essie polishes for this design, are you really surprised?  I just can't stop with the Essie's, I hope you guys aren't sick of it yet, because I am nowhere close to being done with this obsession!

It's pretty bad when you have to photograph the bottles just because you love them so.  These little square of perfection just melt my cold little heart.

For the splatter, I put down a white base with Blanc then splattered with the remaining colors....Sunday Funday (which I also used on my ring finger), The More the Merrier, Bikini So Teeny (also on my index and pinky), and Licorice.  I also used Licorice on my thumb and slapped a few dots on with the 3 "brights".

The formula on all of these beauties is amazing.  I know sometimes Essie polishes can be a pain in the bootay but not these ladies.  Opaque in 2 coats and just totally (I'm resisting the urge to use the word totes, you can thank me later) perfect!  If you haven't tried Licorice then you are missing out!  Easily one of the best black polishes I have ever used!  And Bikini So Teeny is a serious classic!  I use this a LOT and never get tired of it!  Gorgeous baby blue color, shimmer and a pretty lovely formula....someone get behind me, cause I'm about to pass the french out.

Is it normal to get so excited about polish?  Is anyone else this crazy?  Or am I on a polish filled island all by my lonesome?  (I have a feeling I'd have some company, yes I'm looking at you, you little nail hooch).

Flower Nail Art and My New Favorite Pink Polish!

Hi my loves...what a crappy day I am having.  Ever have one of those days where nothing seems to go right? Well, that's today for me!  Just got done fighting with the insurance company.  I do feel a bit better after telling some really intelligent gentleman off (can you smell the sarcasm) and calling him a turd face.  Yep, first thing that came to my mind....turd face...what can I say, I'm super mature!

Anywhoo...I did some nail art last night and am very excited to share it with you all.  I am very pleased with how it turned out.  I realized that I hadn't done my trademark flowers in a hot minute so I got my self together and this is what I came up with....

Slap your mama and call her Fannie....first that came to mind, don't judge me people.

I loved this design so much I even did it on ma toes.  I won't show you a picture, trust me you will thank me.  My toes do NOT need to be front and center on anyone's computer!

I used a new polish for this little diddy....Elle Pink about It.  I picked it up from Kohl's and it may very well be my new favorite pink polish!  Formula is amaze balls.  It reminds me of Essie Boom Boom Room but *gasp* better.  It applied like buttah and the color is so opaque and beautiful! I used 2 coats for the pics above.

I also used Essie Licorice, Essie Blanc, and China Glaze Glistening Snow. My bottle of Glistening Snow (from the 2012 Holiday Joy Collection) is quite low which equals extreme sadness because this glitter is so good!  Full coverage and shimma shimma to beat the band!  I usually end up with visions of someone's mama being taken down by an enormous life size boxing glove every time I wear it!

Diamond (Nail Art) is a Girls Best Friend!!

Hi puddin pies, I have a little quicky for you today before I head upstairs to film my next video.  Wait, does that make me sound like a porn star? I swear it's just nails and makeup....I mean I do sometimes film with no pants on but that's only due to the scorching conditions I must endure due to a noisy air conditioner.

Anywhoo, I sat down to do my nails last night and it was already like midnight so I needed something quick and easy yet still cute.  So I pulled out 2 old favorites and got down to bid-ness.

For some reason these 2 colors were so hard to capture without the dreaded glare!  I used Essie Navigate Her and Essie Master Plan.  These 2 are total throwbacks for me.  Master Plan was one of the first Essie's I ever purchased and definitely a gateway drug to other Essie's!

This design may look a bit complex but I swear it is soooo easy! I started with a white base and topped it with Seche Vite.  Next I put striping tape diagonal on my nail going in one direction (Harry Styles not included) and then a few more going in the other direction.  Fill in the "diamonds", remove the tape and you're off to mama smackin town!  I topcoated everything with Seche Vite, but does that surprise anyone?  I don't think I've used any other topcoat in at least a year.

And as you can see, when I took the picture I hadn't done my thumb yet.  I am always at a loss as to what to do with that ever so sassy 5th digit.  I almost did the diamond design on it but I ended up just going with Master Plan...(visions of my bed were already dancing in my head by this time).  I do admit, sometimes I don't even do my thumb if I am just doing nail art for you guys but last night I actually let her join in on the fun!

I'm going to film a tutorial for this look very soon....let me know if there are any other designs you guys would like to see.

Gotta run....I think I hear them calling me on set! (oh wait, that's just the voices in my tiny little head)

Essie Gradient and a side of Dot!

Hello kitty kats, summer is in full swing and I couldn't be happier!  The hotter the better for me!  When it gets all sticky and humid like this I just want to bust out the brights and get my summer on!

So I was feeling like a gradient which is rare for me.  They are quite easy to do but a pain in the arse to clean up!  But I sucked it up and got rollin on a look that I must say, turned out exactly how I planned!

Ooooh hide your mama's!

For this little peach, I used Essie Orange It's Obvious and Essie Watermelon.  These babies go together like peanut butter and (I don't think you're ready for this) jelly. 

The gradient looks like a sunset doesn't it?  I know sometimes people have issues with these gradients.  I am going to be doing a video tutorial on my Youtube channel so that you guys can actually see how I do it.

You basically put down a white base, pop on a fast dry top coat (hello Seche Vite) and dab the polishes on with a damp makeup sponge. (it's a little bit more than that but you get the idea!)  If you guys would like a picture tutorial on the blog, let me know and I can get one crack a lackin for you fine little nail lovers.

For my index and pinky fingers, I did, excuse me....DOT did her favorite Dotticure using both sides of a dotting tool. (one end is large, the other is baby baby).  Sheesh, she gets so touchy if I try to take credit for a few dots.  What a biznatch. (For those of you who don't know what the heezy I'm talking about...Dot is my alter ego and she is a huge skanky bitch)

 I do have a tutorial on this design on my youtube channel....I'm thinking of doing an updated one now that I have a big girl camera and HD jazz-ola.  Let me know what you guys think!
