Black and White and Striping Tape All Over??

Hi muffins, yes I'm still alive...allow me to explain...I was off for a week from doing my nails! Now this wasn't by choice, trust me, I was dying!  (Not literally dying, but dying cause I wasn't able to play polish, you know what I mean).  I used a new nail polish remover and I had a really bad reaction to it.  The skin around my nails got really red and basically peeled off.  It was a hot ass painful mess!  So I didn't have a choice, I had to lay low for a while and heal these babies of mine.  I certainly learned my lesson!  Zoya Remove...you are my one and only, I will gladly pay $10 for you and never complain again about your overpriced ass.

But I'm back bitches and I'm ready to slap some mama's to make up for lost time!  Let's get crackin!

Ok, so I was really missing pretty much all of my nail art tools during my hiatus so I had to do something fun for my return.  I went for my striping tape and then discovered another dilemna...what color do I use??  I haven't bought polish in a while (gasp) and I'm really feeling kind of blah about my massive collection.  Wah wah wah, get over it woman!

Bottom line is I decided on black and white because I couldn't make up my sweet little mind....ladies and gentlemen, please feast your eyes on exhibit A...

I am quite happy with how this little peach turned out...I'm ready to slap somebody's daddy over this little number, I don't discriminate. I started off with no idea what I was doing.  I painted my whole hand white, (Julie G. White Orchid to be exact) slapped some Seche Vite on and thought to myself...now what?

A little striping tape and a medium sized dotter later, this is what I came up with. Oh and the black polish I used was Layla Ceramic Effect Pure Black

For those of you not sure how to work the whole striping tape thing, I have a tutorial on my YouTube page (YoungWildandPolished) and I also have a few other blog posts that go into detail.  Basically you paint on your base color, add a quick dry topcoat, (I highly, HIGHLY suggest Seche Vite), wait about 10 minutes, add striping tape wherever you want, slap on a second color, immediately remove the striping tape and Voila!!

Once you're all finished up, all you have to do is topcoat and backhand the person closest to you....

(Please overlook the dry spots around a few of my fingers.  It's not dry cuticles, it's still from the dreaded polish remover that didn't know how to play nice.)

I've missed you all, and I'm so happy to be back.  I have lots of fun nail art posts coming up and a few makeup related ones also.  It's a whole new world for me to jump into the world of makeup and swatching blush and lipstick, but I think it will be fun.  If you guys decide you're not interested in the makeup stuff and want me to stick to nail art, that's fine also.  I'm here to please, my wish is your command, basically what I'm trying to say is...I'm your bitch, whatever you want, you shall get!

I hope you guys enjoyed this!  I feel like I've been away forever!

Happy Polishing Loves!!

Water Marbling with My Girl Dot!

Hi love cakes, hope everyone is having a lovely day!  I have a fun little bit of nail art to share with you all today.

As you guys know, I have been in a funk lately with my nail art.  I'm totally inspired with makeup and skincare but for some reason, the "nail art part of my brain" (and yes I have a lobe devoted solely to ma nails) has been off lately.  I do feel like slowly I am regaining my get up and go. What I'm trying to say is....my get up and go has not got up and left just yet!

Now that I've totally lost you let's talk nails....

It's been ages since I've done a water marble.  I do have a tutorial coming up as soon as I get the biatch edited.  My computer is totally overloaded with data right now, but it's coming and I promise it is super informative and (I hope) helpful!

Water marbling, for those of you who don't know, is what got me started on this path I am on.  My best friend showed me a picture of a water marble design and I immediately thought....what sorcery is this?  I can do that! I did, and I immediately was hooked.  I put on my swimmies and dove in head first into this crazy amazing world of nails.  I can't imagine my life without it now, I mean a day with no mama smacking is like a world with no color.

I feel like I have come so far since that first little water marble and I'm so glad you guys are along for the ride!  I'm actually starting school soon to get licensed.  If I could wake up everyday and do nails until I fell into bed at night, I would be the happiest woman in the world!

Now that I've told you my mother lovin life story, can we finally talk about the nails?  Good grief woman, get a grip!

I wanted to do a fun water marble and of course I had to throw in some dots, I mean come on, Dot hasn't come out and played for a while.  Yes Dot is my alter ego and as most of you know she is a real bitch but we all love her just the same.

Now put on your marbling pants and let's get this shit crackin...

Hide your mama's ladies and gentlemen,  I feel a beat down coming.

After doing this, I wish I would have water marbled all of my nails because I really love how it turned out!  Next time I will do a full on water marble.  Dot can cool her jets and let the marble shine for once!  Matter of fact, instead of smacking my mama...I'm gonna beat the piss out of Dot. (I think I just decided to beat myself up and for some reason I'm ok with that)

I used OPI What's with the Cattitude, Nars Back Room and NYC Midtown Mimosa. I must say I really love how this came together.  The 3 colors meshed so well.  Usually I try to marble with all of the same brand (it seems to work out best for me) but these 3 played very nicely together.

If you're not familiar with water marbling, basically you get a cup or small bowl of room temp filtered water, drip polish into the bowl creating a bulls eye effect, dip your nail in after making a design in the polish and...Voila!!  Well, it's not quite that simple but that's the premise.

As I said I will have a tutorial coming soon on my YouTube channel but if you're impatient you can always do a search on Google and you will find a ton of tutorials!

I'm thinking of filming a quick tutorial tomorrow or maybe I'll get off my ass and get my water marble tutorial up on my channel.  I'm so happy with the way this one turned out, I'm temped to re-do my tutorial with this delicious little combo.

Quickly..because I've babbled enough...I do have a giveaway coming up once I hit 500 subscribers.  I'm thinking of doing a "Recreate your favorite YWP Mani" type of thing and the winner will receive a pretty amazing little package!  I'm quite excited about it...more details to come soon!  (It will be an Instagram/Twitter type of contest, with hash tagging and all that good sheeeeet)

Happy Polishing Loves!

Coconut Oil....My Little Miracle Worker

Hi kittens, I mentioned the other day a possible upcoming post on coconut oil and I got a ton of responses on Instagram and by email that you guys were interested....so here's goes nothing!

I discovered coconut oil by chance.  I was watching one of the many YouTube videos that suck me in on a daily basis, and someone was raving on and on about this coconut oil.  I was curious so I went out and bought some....and my life has forever changed.

Well....that may be a little dramatic, but you know me....always one to take things where they don't need to go. But seriously, I was totally in love from the second I tried it and I'm going to share with you all the amazing uses for this inexpensive little gem!

So if you're not familiar....this is what my jar (enormous as it is) looks like:

I got this at Walmart in the aisle with the cooking oils.  Excuse me Crisco, mama needs some eye cream.

It ran me a whopping $5.50.  Holy Lord above, could this be true? At the end of this post we will tally up all the money I could save using coconut oil in place of my regular products for the uses mentioned.  I'm sure, actually I know it's going to be a whopping amount of money saved.

Ok so first and foremost, let me show you the consistency of this stuff.  When I first heard the word oil, of course I was thinking, how the Hell's Angels is a cooking oil gonna do all these things for me...but it does...

It is an oil, but it's in solid form until it warms and melts with the warmth of your body heat.

As you can see, I've already dug in quite a bit but you get the drift.  It's solid.  I usually scoop it out with a spoon and as soon as it hits my hand, it begins to melt.  And no it doesn't smell like coconut, but ohhhhh how I flippin wish it did.  I love me some coconut smelly goods on my bod-aaay.

Ok, uses...first and foremost I like to use this as a cuticle oil.  It works amazingly well and you only need the tiniest little piece to get enough oil for both hands!  I also use it as a hand moisturizer.  Money saved- $30 roughly.

One of my favorite uses for this oil is on my body as a moisturizer.  I have a slight obsession with any type of body or face oil so this is right up my alley.  I literally put enough on so that I have to walk around the bathroom totally naked with my arms outstretched and my legs apart for a good 5 minutes.  Gorgeous visual, you are all quite welcome!  But it works!  It makes my skin baby soft and it absorbs in a decent amount of time.  You aren't slippery smooth for a long time, but long enough so that you feel like it is doing it's job!  Money saved- $30

Next I love to use this as a hair mask.  Once or twice a week I will take a big old scoop of this and carefully rub it into my dry hair until it is totally saturated and looking quite lovely I must add.  I then wrap my hair in either plastic wrap or a towel and sleep that way.  In the morning, I shampoo and condition as usual, rinsing really well to get all the product out. Some people have said it leaves a residue behind but I haven't had a problem.  A good rinse gets all of the product out for me.  My hair becomes so silky and smooth, you know I have to smack my mama just for doing such a good job raising my radiant haired ass!  (wait, hairy ass, noooo that's not where that was supposed to go)

Ugh, I digress yet again...next this little engine that could works really great for bad skin.  Now I have really healthy, blemish free skin.  But I have heard from a LOT of people that using coconut oil on breakouts and blemishes has cleared their skin up quicker than any other product they have tried.  I use it as a nightly moisturizer and my skin has never looked better! I just rub a little all over my face and neck right after I wash my face. I wake up and my skin feels so good!  Money saved- $70

I have super dry skin but you can also use this with oily skin.  The more oil you put onto and into your skin when it is oily, the less oil you will produce.  You almost trick your body into making less oil when you use oil on your face and body.  Follow me?  Some people worry when they are oily that using an oil will make them produce more oil, but the opposite is true.  Your body slows down oil production because of the oil you have introduced into the picture.  (I know it's confusing)

Eyelashes, we all have them and we all seem to want them just a little bit longer, or thicker or both.  Coconut oil is said to speed hair growth (fingers crossed because my eyelashes and the hair on this big old head could use a boost!)  I have been using a little bit on my eyelashes and surprisingly I think I notice a difference.

I take a tiny little bit on the tip of my finger and (gently and carefully) run my finger along my lashes while opening and closing my eye to get the lashes covered in the oil.  It doesn't burn my eyes at all.  I even use it to take off my eye makeup and it works better than any makeup remover I have ever used.  It amazes me that the oil doesn't bother my sensitive eyes, but it really truly doesn't.  Money saved- $10.

I also loooove to put a big old scoop of this puppy into my bath water.  It just makes the water so silky and I can really feel it when I get out and dry off.  Just be careful, because it will leave a residue in the tub, which makes things super slippery.  I usually take a little cleaner and just give the tub a quick wipedown.  ( I already have a handicapped hubby, no more tragedies for us thank you very much).  Money saved- $20

Another use, and the use I believe this is "meant for"....cooking.  Yes, you can moisturize your fine self and then cook up a gourmet dinner, all using the same product.  What could be better?  In fact, you could throw yourself onto the grill and cook until golden brown.  I could probably feed a family of 5 for a good month or so.

Now these are just the things I like to use my coconut oil for.  I'm sure there are many more...if you guys use it differently, let me know!  I'd love to hear more ways I can use this little baby!

Here are a few uses I have heard of but haven't tried:
  • Razor Burn or bumps
  • To treat Eczema
  • Immune Booster (1 scoop a day down the hatch...blech, I can't imagine downing a teaspoon of solid oil, but it has been done and is said to help the body with digestion)
  • Diaper rash and cradle cap on babies

So my total amount saved is $160.  Amazing!  I spend quite a good amount of money on skincare and body lotions.  Now this isn't to say I will stop buying (I mean I'm a beauty blogger, I have to try stuff right?) But if you are on a budget and you want something that is going to do a multitude of jobs for little cost, you really can't beat coconut oil.

There are a few different kinds.  You want to look for "Organic", "Virgin" (like me) and "Extra Virgin".   Now the one I have says "Pure" which I was unsure of.  I will be buying from a whole foods store or health food store next time to make sure I get organic and extra virgin.  Even so, the one I have is certainly doing the job but I want to make sure I'm getting the most bang for my buck, ya dig?

All in all I am thrilled with my new little find.  It's cheap, it works great every way I have tried to use it and it's oil.  I love oil.  If I weren't using coconut oil, I would be using an Argan Oil or some other oil that would allow me to slather myself and then slip and slide my way into bed.

Let me know how you guys use your coconut oil.  And also if you try this for the first time, please let me know your thoughts.  I hope you all love it as much as I do!

Happy Slathering Loves!!

Warm Weather Nails....and a...beatdown?!

Hello kittens, 2 days in a row...wow I am on my game this week!  I am turning over a new leaf!  Blogging every morning before I start my day is going to be part of my new routine.  So far so good, 2 days in and I'm liking my new system!

So last night I did a super fun little mani that kind of just came about.  It was one of those "I have no idea what I want to do so I will decide as I go along" type mani's.  I really wanted to pair these 2 colors together and I'm so happy I did!

I used Loreal Royalty Reinvented (purple), and Loreal New Money (green).  Let me just say....I absolutely am in love with Loreal nail polish!  Aside from one or two that I have tried, their formula is so amazingly perfect.  The colors are super saturated and just flow on the nail so smoothly.  Both of these colors were super opaque and did great with 2 coats.

I started off by painting my index and pinky finger with Royalty Reinvented.  I did my middle finger with New Money and I top coated them all with Seche Vite.  I did my ring finger with white but I didn't topcoat that just yet.

Once the 3 fingers aside from my white ring finger (which we will get to in a minute) were dry, I taped off a few spots with striping tape, painted over that with the opposite color and removed the striping tape immediately.  I let that dry about 10 minutes and swiped on another coat of Seche Vite.  Then I slapped my mama just cause I could.  I thought about beating my husband over this happy little mani but I decided to let him slide...I'm nice like that.

On my ring finger, I just took both Loreal colors and put some different sized dots all around the nail.  And of course, I topped that baby off with Seche Vite once it was nice and dry.

I have tutorials for both of these designs on my YouTube Channel, which is the same name as this little diddy...Young Wild and Polished. Although I think it's more like YoungWildandPolished, no spaces kids.

What do you think?  I'm so flippin ready for spring!  Maybe if I keep doing these summery bright looks someone will take notice and flip the thermostat to warm?  I am so done with this cold ass weather.  My skin is dry, my cuticles fight me on a daily basis, not to mention I have soooo many cute little spring dresses that are just calling my name.  Come on, Mother Nature, warm this state up before I get to slappin ho's....I'm not above beating the piss out of a crabby old bat who loves to torture sweet girls like myself.  Mother Nature...you and me is about to get down.

And I digress....once again...

See you love muffins tomorrow!

Happy Polishing Dolls!

A Stamping Mani....and a Heart to Heart with my peeps!

Hi loves, I know, I know, it's been forever and a freaking day since I've blogged....I have a confession to make....I have been so uninspired and just blah lately.  I still love everything about nails, polish all that jazz, I just need a pick me up or some new polish or....who knows what. I have been sitting down to do my nails and just totally blank.  I have no idea what I want to do, and I just feel kind of off.

Another thing that has been on my mind ALOT lately has been makeup and all things beauty related...skincare, haircare, all that good stuff.  I've wanted to blog a little about a few makeup products I have but I don't want to disappoint all of my loyal followers who come here to see nails and nothing else.  Would you guys be upset if I mixed in a makeup post once in a while?  Please tell me honestly what you think.  I do all of this for you lovely people and if you don't want it I certainly will not do it.  Anyone care to share their thoughts on this?  Young Wild and Polished will always be a nail blog but I wouldn't mind a little makeup and skincare in the mix, would you?

Ok now that I got that out, let's talk nails...

I did this little stamping mani last night on a whim.  I couldn't decide what to do, as I said above, I was in my usual funk.  But I just bought this gorgeous color I'm about to show you and I actually felt a little spark of inspiration once I put her on!  I even thought about back handing someone's mama, ahhh what a glorious feeling!

So this is Sonia Kashuk Sitting Pretty, the color I started out with...

Please don't mind the disgusting slice out of my index finger, I had a fight with a knife and as you can see....I lost!  It's healing but it's there and I'm very sorry, I know it looks like a hot mess!

Isn't this color just gorgeous? Look at that shimmer!  As soon as I applied this I wanted to do a little jig.  I felt like putting on the Lil Wayne and getting downright freak nasty.  When a polish makes me want to dance, I know it's a winner winner chicken dinner!

Knowing me, I couldn't leave this alone.  I had to do something to it and I knew just the thing!  I pulled out my Nails Inc Old Park Lane and got crackin.

This is what OPL looks like on her own....

I freaking love this one coat wonder!  Formula is perfection and 1 coaters make me want to beat the neighbor's baby.

Combined with the beautiful and shimmery Sitting Pretty could be a match made in polish heaven!

I used Bundle Monster Plate #203.  I must say I really love this combination.  The rose gold meshes so well with the shimmery purple.  And can I just say I have been totally obsessed, OBSESSED with rose gold anything lately.  I got a watch for my birthday of the rose gold variety and that seemed to put me on a path of total rose gold addiction.  (If I say the word rose gold one more time I am going to punch myself out)

I have been using a new cuticle oil lately.  Brace yourselves ladies and gentlemen, it's quite pricey.  I originally got it to use as a facial oil, which I do, but I have found it works really well on my cuticles also.  (Or this is just my way to get to talk about products other than nail polish, hmmmm)

This, as you can see, is the Tarte Maracuja Oil and I am totally in love with the stuff.  This large bottle ran me about $35 which for the size, isn't too bad I guess.  It's such a nice oil if you have super dry skin as I do.  I slather myself in this stuff.  It has also been doing really nicely on my cuticles.  They seem quite happy and moisturized.  I haven't slapped anyone's mama over this stuff but I may start.  The mood may strike at anytime, who knows.

I know it's a little pricey, just wanted to throw it in there.  If you want something super cheap that works like a dream, you can always head to your Walmart or local grocery store and pick up some coconut oil.  The stuff is absolutely mama smacking wonderful.  It's in the aisle with the cooking oil and it will make your cuticles so soft and happy! I posted a picture of it on my Instagram and we all had a long discussion about the things this miracle product can do so you guys can check that out if you're interested!

If you guys would like to see a post dedicated to coconut oil and it's many uses, just let me know and I will get my buns to work on that!  It's great for nail care and also for many many other things!

I hope you guys enjoyed.  Please let me know your thoughts on the makeup blogging question I asked.  I really would like to know how you guys feel about this.

Happy Polishing bitches!!

Young Wild and Effervescent??

Hi kittens, I must say I feel as if I am neglecting you all but I don't mean to.  My home life has been filled with major changes and lots of craziness.  I will hopefully fill you all in very soon on everything!

Today I have a few polishes to share with you from Effervescence Polish.  They were sent to me for honest review and I had a ball with them!  So sparkly and beautiful, one even better than the next!  Have a lookie loo....

First up is The Great Oz:

The Great Oz is a gorgeous deep sparkly green that shimmers like crazy, but of course didn't translate into my picture.  I really liked this one alot on.  When I first saw it I wasn't sure, dark green isn't something I wear a lot of, but I was quite happy with this little beauty!

Formula was great.  Photo is 2 coats and one coat of Seche Vite.

Next u is Blushing Coquette:

Blushing Coquette (love the name by the way) is a shimmery peach color that I absolutely adored with my skin tone.  So delicate and classy, and a really nice change from all the crazy colors I play with on a daily basis!

Formula was great and I used 2 coats and Seche Vite for the above pics.

Deep Sea Treasure:

My favorite of the bunch and a true mama slapper.  I fell totally in love with this hot mama as soon as I saw the color in the bottle!  So shimmery and the prettiest blue green color, I most definitely will be wearing this polish a LOT this spring and summer!! If I ever meet a mermaid, I can guarantee she will be sporting this as a pedicure! Absolute perfection!

Formula was amazing, as they all were.  Picture is 2 coats and Seche Vite.

Caribbean Splash:

Come on, how freaking beautiful is this?  I love this color and I want to shout it from the mountain tops, is that so wrong?  The name is so fitting, this little sexpot is the exact color of the water in the Caribbean!  Suddenly I'm back in the Bahamas, a size 2 sitting on the beach sipping a Mai-Tai.  No one is yelling "mommy, he hit me", my husband is waiting on me hand and foot and my masseuse looks, wait, IS, Alexander Skaarsgard! (yes i got all this from a little bottle of polish!!)

All I'm trying to say is....I dig it!  2 coats and Seche Vite....and as I've said over and over....formula was perfection!

What do you guys think of these beauties?  Which one is your favorite?  I'm so thankful to the lovely ladies at Effervescence Polish for sending me these lovelies to review!  I loved each and every one of them!

Happy Polishing Dolls!

Splatter Mani's as Therapy???

Hey dolls, another quickie today...everytime I say that I imagine sneaking home to secretly paint my nails (a "quickie"), yes issues, I know.....just wait it gets better!!

So I've decided that splatter nail art is something I do, not because I love it and it looks nice, but because the act of blowing the polish onto the nail like a mad woman is somewhat therapeutic to me.

I am releasing frustration on that nail!! Get on there you stupid polish, and you better look right or this bottle is getting chucked across the mother fluffin room!! What a psychopath!

Don't judge me people....

Anywhoooo, today's look is, as you probably guessed, a splatter mani. I used OPI Eurso Euro on my index and pinky fingers, Pure Ice Bare It All on my middle finger and a little splatter using Eurso-Euro and Wet n Wild Heatwave on my middle finger.

Do you guys find nail art therapeutic or am I just a mama slappin, foul mouthed fool?

Happy Polishing bitches!!
