Water Marbling with My Girl Dot!

Hi love cakes, hope everyone is having a lovely day!  I have a fun little bit of nail art to share with you all today.

As you guys know, I have been in a funk lately with my nail art.  I'm totally inspired with makeup and skincare but for some reason, the "nail art part of my brain" (and yes I have a lobe devoted solely to ma nails) has been off lately.  I do feel like slowly I am regaining my get up and go. What I'm trying to say is....my get up and go has not got up and left just yet!

Now that I've totally lost you let's talk nails....

It's been ages since I've done a water marble.  I do have a tutorial coming up as soon as I get the biatch edited.  My computer is totally overloaded with data right now, but it's coming and I promise it is super informative and (I hope) helpful!

Water marbling, for those of you who don't know, is what got me started on this path I am on.  My best friend showed me a picture of a water marble design and I immediately thought....what sorcery is this?  I can do that! I did, and I immediately was hooked.  I put on my swimmies and dove in head first into this crazy amazing world of nails.  I can't imagine my life without it now, I mean a day with no mama smacking is like a world with no color.

I feel like I have come so far since that first little water marble and I'm so glad you guys are along for the ride!  I'm actually starting school soon to get licensed.  If I could wake up everyday and do nails until I fell into bed at night, I would be the happiest woman in the world!

Now that I've told you my mother lovin life story, can we finally talk about the nails?  Good grief woman, get a grip!

I wanted to do a fun water marble and of course I had to throw in some dots, I mean come on, Dot hasn't come out and played for a while.  Yes Dot is my alter ego and as most of you know she is a real bitch but we all love her just the same.

After doing this, I wish I would have water marbled all of my nails because I really love how it turned out!  Next time I will do a full on water marble.  Dot can cool her jets and let the marble shine for once!  Matter of fact, instead of smacking my mama...I'm gonna beat the piss out of Dot. (I think I just decided to beat myself up and for some reason I'm ok with that) 

I used OPI What's with the Cattitude, Nars Back Room and NYC Midtown Mimosa. I must say I really love how this came together.  The 3 colors meshed so well.  Usually I try to marble with all of the same brand (it seems to work out best for me) but these 3 played very nicely together.

If you're not familiar with water marbling, basically you get a cup or small bowl of room temp filtered water, drip polish into the bowl creating a bulls eye effect, dip your nail in after making a design in the polish and...Voila!!  Well, it's not quite that simple but that's the premise.

As I said I will have a tutorial coming soon on my YouTube channel but if you're impatient you can always do a search on Google and you will find a ton of tutorials!

I'm thinking of filming a quick tutorial tomorrow or maybe I'll get off my ass and get my water marble tutorial up on my channel.  I'm so happy with the way this one turned out, I'm temped to re-do my tutorial with this delicious little combo.

Getting Back to Basics....Essie Polish and Water Marbling!

Well lookie here at this lady blogging 2 days in a row. *Pig flies by*  What the heck is going on here?  I mean, I am currently locked in the bathroom complaining of stomach pains to my kids and hubby when in actuality I feel perfectly fine.  So sad the lengths us mothers must go through to get a little peace and quiet. 

When I first started blogging, my main focus was water marbling.  It was the thing that got me into nails, nail polish and the whole shebang.  You can say it was my gateway drug into this crazy polish world that I live and breathe.  But I realized that I have strayed from my first love and for that I am sorry.  I love marbling so much, but for me it is really a simple thing.  This may not come out right, but I've wanted to challenge myself by doing new things, and marbling for me is old hat. 

I know a lot of you struggle with water marbling and for that I am sorry.  I wish I could bring you all to my house and show you how simple it is if you have all the initial basics down pat.  I do have a tutorial tab on the blog here but someone told me it is not working.  As soon as I am done with this post I will look into fixing it. 

Last night my hubby said to me, "honey, why haven't you done that water thing lately?"  Ok, if the hubs is noticing that I am slacking on my marbling, we definitely have a problem.  I could walk in the house with Alexander Skaarsgard (my on the side lover, back off heffers) on my arm totally buck ass naked and Tony wouldn't realize it.  Yes, Houston, we certainly do have a problem.  So here you go my friends....my first love, my truest love, the one who never lets me down.....An Essie Water Marble, just for you!

Sorry for the lack of pictures...to be honest, I only did this marble to see how Essie She's Picture Perfect was at marbling.  I had initially planned to do totally different colors.  But as you can see she marbled very nicely along with Essie Mohito Madness, one of my favorite Essie colors.  I have found that when I marble, I have a much easier time if I use all polishes from the same line or brand.  All Essies, or all Revlons, etc.  Not sure why this is but things go really well when you keep this in mind.

 

 SPP is a gorgeous lilac color that has the always pretty opal sheen to it.  The formula is great, very light at first but builds up nicely with 2 thin coats.  Mohito Madness is a creamy heavenly green that I have loved since the second I saw her sitting in CVS.  I am a huge fan of cream polishes as most of you already know, and she is a very lovely cream, with a great formula and lots of pigment.  My ring and pinky are 2 thin coats of  buttery goodness!

 

She's Picture Perfect is much darker than it appears in the pics.  Water marbling is, of course just using a very thin layer of the polish.  On the nai, 2 coats of SPP is a little bit darker with a pretty opal sheen.  I suck at life and didn't swatch this one for you guys.  Forgive me please!

 

I've been meaning to let you guys know about this and I keep forgetting....Some of you probably already know that I have an Instagram account with the same user name as the blog, Young Wild and Polished.  I post a ton of pics to my IG account, many that don't ever make it to this blog.  I'd love for you guys to pop over to IG and follow me.  You will get to see lots more nail designs and the occassional outfit of the day or self portrait.  (Contain your excitement at the thought of seeing this mug up close and personal).  Instagram can now be reached from your home PC, Ipad, laptop, whatever you use.... instead of something that is only for smart phone users.  At least this is what I am told.  And I'm pretty sure you don't have to have an IG account to cruise around and look at pics although you will need one if you want to comment on anything.  Hope to see you all there!

A Striping Tutorial (Of Sorts) and a Side of Water Marble!

Hi loves, I feel like it's been forever since I've blogged even though it's only been a few days.  We have been fighting Hurricane Sandy for the past few days.  It got pretty scary for a while.  We didn't lose power like many people but we were without internet *gasp* for 2 days.  You would have thought my kids had been told their favorite puppy had been beaten.  They were totally lost and didn't know what to do with themselves.

We are very grateful we didn't have more damage and of course many prayers and thoughts to the people who are facing much devastation due to this pain in the ass of a storm.

Ok now the fun stuff...so over the weekend, my order from Born Pretty Store finally, FINALLY arrived.  I had been waiting for a very long 2 months!  I guess that's what happens when you order from Hong Kong.  Way to go Nicole!  In my order was a little roll of heaven, also know as striping tape.  For those of you who are not familiar, don't fret, I will let you know exactly what the dilly is after these pics...

I'm playing around with watermarks, I promise I will find one soon and stick with it.  

 

Let's talk colors first and then I'll get into the designs.  I marbled and striped with the same colors, Essie Butler Please and Where's My Chauffeur. Well, I kind of striped with the same colors, more on that in a minute!  These colors go together just lovely don't they?  I really am loving Where's My Chauffeur the more I use it but I am still at odds with Butler Please.  I don't think we will ever see eye to eye. 

 

 

The middle 2 fingers are just my regular old water marble.  If you're just tuning in, and you're not sure of how this is done, I have a tab on my home page with a very detailed tutorial.  I have heard it is very helpful so be sure to check it out.  The index and pinky fingers were done with striping tape. Let me just tell you, I am all in with the tape thing!  It is a little tricky to get clean lines but it certainly can be done.  I'll give you a quick run down of how I did mine, hopefully it will help those of you not familiar with this method of nail art.

 

 

First I painted both nails with Where's My Chauffeur (turquoise).  I did 2 thin coats and then a coat of Seche Vite.  Any fast dry top coat will do just fine, I just happen to be a SV junkie and never use anything else.  If I were deserted on an island you can bet your sweet ass I would have a bottle of Seche in my cute little "stranded on a desert island" nail tote.

 

  And I digress....so let that dry for about 10 minutes and then it's time to play.  Cut a small piece of tape off of the roll.  Make sure to bend the edge of the tape back that is left on the roll or you will be spinning the tape and searching for the start spot for 20 minutes like I did.  Place it on the nail making sure to lay it flat the WHOLE WAY down to the cuticle or the side of the nail.  If you just press it across you will have a gap and your line will come out uneven. I used a toothpick to push the tape down flush with my nail at the cuticle edge.  This is a very important step, don't skip over this one kids!

 

 Repeat this until you have all your pieces on.  Then it's time to put on the second color.  I attempted to use Butler Please but the formula was just so awful that I had to grab my trusty Sally Hansen Pacific Blue.  Since the 2 colors are so similar there was no issue.  And it was the right choice!!  PB worked so well!! 

 

You want to make sure that your second color is very opaque, a 1 coater is really the best thing for this.  Put a decent coat on top of the entire nail covering the base color and your striping tape. You don't want it too thick, but it can't be too thin or you won't get good coverage. (That's not confusing right?)  As soon as you have the nail covered, remove the tape strips one by one being very careful.  It is very easy to destroy the design at this stage.

 

I used cuticle nippers to pull my strips off, and I pulled at a little bit of an angle.  I don't know if it made a difference, but as you can see, my lines came out pretty darn clean! 

 

Do NOT let the polish dry before removing the strips!!  Make sure that you take them off as SOON AS you are done putting your second polish on. 

 

After you have all of your tape removed, allow the polish to dry. Very carefully and very gently put your topcoat on.  I used a very gently hand making sure I didn't smudge my design.  The dreaded smudge is enough to make you commit yourself to a mental institute.  You spend all that time perfecting your nail art, and with one swipe of that effing topcoat, all your hopes and dreams are down the toilet.  (Yes hopes and dreams, I'm committed ok?)

 

That's all there is to it.  It does take a little practice.  This is by no means the greatest way in the world to do this, but it's my way and I think it works really well.  I hope it helps those of you that are a little scared of trying this.  Yes, that little roll of tape can be intimidating but it's really not so bad!

Essie Butler Please....Please Don't be Such a Pain!!

Hi dolls, how are we all doing?  We are preparing for Hurricane Sandy (well her remnants) tomorrow so we spent the morning getting the outside in order for 75 mile per hour winds and lots of rain.  Not my idea of fun.  Hopefully it won't be as bad as they are anticipating but at least I will be stuck inside with nothing to do but paint my nails!

So for my second post in my Essie Winter Collection Week I have Butler Please to introduce to you.  I am sadly disappointed in this polish!  It is almost an exact dupe for Sally Hansen Pacific Blue, and let me tell ya, if these 2 were in a cage match, Pacific Blue would whoop some heiney.  I did a comparison of the 2...have a look and then I will tell you why I am so upset with Butler.

 

 

So it's pretty self explanatory who is where....Essie Butler Please is on my index and ring fingers and Sally Hansen Pacific Blue is on my middle and pinky fingers.  They are very close but Butler is a little bit darker.  The formula is the problem.  Whoever mixed this guy together certainly was either drinking heavily or really pissed off at their boss.  It's streaky, it pulls and it dries as a weird matte finish.  Pacific Blue on the other hand, (well not literally), is creamy, opaque after one coat and dries nice and shiny.  There is no question which I would choose.  If you are looking for a polish in this color family, I highly recommend you get Pacific Blue.  It's about $7 cheaper and a lot nicer. I love me some Essie but this polish is a hot mess!

 

 

Marbling was no exception.  At first Butler didn't even want to spread in the water.  I eventually got her to cooperate (after showing some muscle) but I still had a helluva time with this water marble.  Have a look see...

 

 

 

 

Oh here we go, super shmongo picture, good lawd!

 

 

 

I ordered some striping tape from Born Pretty Store and received it in the mail today so I had to play with it!  I love the way my stripey fingers turned out although I must confess I couldn't get it to work with Butler so Pacific Blue stepped in in the 9th inning to finish in the clutch!  I should have taken a pic of the tragedy that was Butler Please, but I treasure you all too much to put you through that.

 

If you haven't tried striping tape, I highly advise it!  It's so much fun and super simple.  As long as you use a polish that is a one coater you are set!  Apply your base color.  Allow it to dry or do as I do and get some help from a fast drying top coat such as Seche Vite.  Once you are dry (about 10 minutes) you simply tape off the spots where you want the lines to be,  put a layer of your one coat wonder over the entire nail and remove the tape strips immediately after.  It's really that simple. 

 

I did use Butler for the marble as I already mentioned.  She fought but I won.  I did the water marble with my good pal Where's My Chauffeur, a sweet and very compliant Tiffany Blue/turquoise color.  The difference in formula for these 2 is unreal!  I can guarantee you, nobody will be smacking their mama after using Butler.  Unless of course they do it in anger cause they are so pissed off with the mess that she is! I don't condone this, mama smacking is only ok when used in a positive way.

 

Don't fret my pets if you don't hear from me for a few days.  I don't know if we will lose power with the storm.  I will keep everyone updated via Twitter and Instagram because those I can do from my cell phone.

Yoga-ta see This Water Marble

Hello hello!! We made it to Friday!  Yay!! And I have nothing planned this weekend except for lots of swatching and nail art-ing (hmm, new word of the day?).  I love weekends like that, where no one has a baseball tourney hours away, no birthday parties, no in laws to pacify.  Just me, my jammies, and a 2 day love affair with lots of new polishes!

So this week was crazy busy for me.  By the time I sat down to paint my nails, it was going on 10:00, and trust me, 5 am comes really quick as you all know.  I wanted to do a water marble, (when do I NOT want to do a water marble?) but I knew I didn't have enough time so I did just accent fingers.  I thought I would dislike but it turned out nice and it was just enough to give my mani a little ooommph!

 

 

 

 

I really really love this blue polish!  It's OPI Yoga-ta Get This Blue hence my title for this post.  The WM was done with OPI Suzi & the 7 Dusseldorfs (pink) from their Germany Collection and The Temptress' Touch (green) from Loreal's Project Runway Collection. I also used Yoga-ta in the WM as you can see.  I was quite pleased with the way it turned out.  The colors marbled together beautifully, although The Temptress' Touch which is a shimmery gold-y green was looking more yellow than I had hoped as it blended with the magenta in Suzi. 

 

I recently purchased Yoga-ta get this Blue and I am so glad I did.  I do have a lot of deep shimmery blue polishes like this but I just can't get enough.  Application was a dream and the deep opaque color makes me.....wait for it....want to smack somebody's mammy.  My mother has taken enough abuse, I am moving on to friends' mothers now.

Polish Us Pink (and a Little Marbled)

Hi nail crazies *waves furiously* how is everyone on this manic Monday?  I really wanted to get this posted last night, but my computer was not cooperating so alas, it had to wait until now.

I couldn't decide which mani I wanted to use out of 2 cute ones that I did....so I will post them both for you....so sort of a Polish Us Pink spam sandwich if you will.  I just love pink Mondays!  Pink polish is one of my favorite colors to wear, so this for me is really really fun!

The first mani I did is a little water marble I just tried to see how it would turn out, and I ended up really liking it.  Of course Dot was ticked I didn't do a dot mani, so she comes into play in the second mani.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

My computer sucks total ass and that just took me 20 minutes to upload those 2 pics, Lawd help me!!  Anywhoo, for this WM I used Essie Off the Shoulder and Essie Bobbing for Baubles.  I know this looks a little bit like black, but it is navy, I swear!  I really am happy with how this turned out.  And I am liking the 2 plain "accent" fingers with the 2 different colors.  Mixes it up a little bit!

 

The next one I did just out of sheer boredom...but it turned out pretty cute.  I posted it on Instagram and everyone seemed to really like it so I will share it with my loves....

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And that took me 40 minutes....screw watermelons, I am ready to Gallagher the shit out of this computer.  Ok, deep breath.....the nails, yes the nails....what do you guys think?  I don't think I've ever done a full print mani like this.  I see other bloggers dot and it looks really cute so I thought I would give it a shot.  I will have to do more of these!!

 

I used Essie Ballet Slippers for my base.  The flowers were done with Essie Cascade Cool and Essie Bobbing for Baubles.  Almost the same exact colors for both mani's (kinda sorta) but such different looks!

 

Which one do you prefer?  Hope you guys enjoyed my Polish Us Pink mani's, thanks for dealing with my venting about this POS computer.....*now where did I put that mallet?*

My First Black and Tan Water Marble...a Success!!

Hi loves, I feel like I haven't talked to you all in forever.  Why must life be so darn crazy?  I have so much swatching to do, and all I want to do is nail art....and marbling.....and dotting (of course).  Oh speaking of dots, do you like the changes I made to my blog?  If you haven't figured this out, I am very computer illiterate, like very, and the fact that I did that all by myself had me once again tooting my own hort! (And Dot's horn, she inspired the dots, the crazy old heffer).

So lately I have really been into dark vampy water marbles.  I usually find myself using bright colors or pinks, blue, whatever...but I rarely use black, unless it is used as a teeny tiny little accent.  But all I want to do these days is marble with black.  Thinking back on my previous marbles, I realized I never did a black and tan one and it sounded quite lovely...have a goosey gander...

 

 

 

 

 

For this little lady I used Zoya Cho, a very pretty shimmery tan.  If you are in the market for a pretty neutral color, this would be great.  I used this as my base under this marble, and I almost didn't want to cover it, it was so beautiful!!

 

 

It's hard to see the shimmer in this pic, but I promise you, it is there!!

 

 

The second color I used was Essie Licorice, my go to black polish when I am marbling.  It always spreads well and works well with other brands.  Sometimes with WM, if you mix brands, they won't play nice together. (Sounds like Dot, she is such a hot mess). They almost just freeze up and refuse to make that bullseye that we so badly need when marbling.  Essie Licorice is a team player!!

 

I love how this looks as if I used 3 or more colors when I only used the tan and the black.  That's the beauty of water marbling, you can create such different unique looks with something as simple as black and tan polish. 

 

By the way, I made a tab on the home page of my blog for the water marble tutorial that I did a while back.  I had loads of people asking me for it, so I figured it would just be best to give it a place to call home.  Be sure to check it out if you need help with marbling.  A few friends have told me that it really helped them, which makes me so so happy!!! The more marblers in this world, the better!!

A Sexy Little Water Marble (and a Side of Psychosis)

Hi all, I've missed you guys this week.  Things have been cray cray (my new favorite phrase by the way) lately.  But I did manage to get a hot little mani done for you all.  I did this a few days ago, but I'm just getting around to posting.  Hopefully it was worth the wait. 

So usually when I water marble I use a white base...no matter what color's I am using for the marble.  But I was inspired by my friend Jeanette over at The Swatchaholic.  If you haven't checked out her blog, (which I'm sure you have, she is amazing and I am such a fan girl, high pitched shrieking as if I'm 10 and just met Justin Bieber obsessed with her but not in that I want to stalk you sort of way, more in that I think you are so talented and we should be BFF's sort of way) phew, then you definitely should!  She did a water marble (one of her first and it was devine, so unfair but I'm happy for her cause like I said, obsessed) and she used black underwear instead of white.  It turned out so pretty and I thought to myself, girl get out of those white granny panties and throw on these sexy black ones.  So that is exactly what I did and boy am I glad I did!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sorry the pics are not the greatest, I am really annoyed with my phone, I hate having to use it for photos.  My camera crapped out and I am saving for a new one.  Bear with me for a little, the new camera is coming soon! 

 

I used the China Glaze Bohemian Collection for this marble.  They are so so so good for water marbling.  I used them once before with no base and I was really happy with how it turned out.  I am much more thrilled with this sexy number!  I never thought about using black as a base but it works really well, at least for these shimmery somewhat duochrome-y polishes.  I'll have to give it a shot with regular polish and see how it goes.

30 Day Challenge Day 20 Water Marble Wilderness Marble!!

Hi loves, this is gonna be a quick one because I want to get this posted before midnight so I can have it show up for the challenge on the host blog.  Anyway, what a night....I locked myself out of the house...had to wait for about, hmmm, 2 hours for Tony to get here with the keys to let me in.  So what's a girl to do you say? Well there were bottles of water on the porch (we always keep an extra case on the porch cause they all don't fit in the fridge).  I had a bowl sitting out there that the kids had used for something and I had a few polishes in my bag, because I ALWAYS have polish with me.  You see where this is going don't you?  Yes, I managed to gather up enough things to water marble my nails on my back porch while waiting to be let into my house.  Dedication some may say, insanity other may think? I don't give a flying squirrel, I got my marble done and that's all that matter.  And I did this sheet on a back porch with 2 kids crawling up my butt....

 

 

 

 

 

 

 



Not bad huh?  Sorry I did not use any untrieds, I didn't have any with me but I hope I won't be crucified for that.  I DID A WATER MARBLE WITH BASICALLY TWIGS AND A CAT'S WATER DISH, work with me here people.  I used Zoya Lara, Zoya Shelby and Essie Licorice.  I used the same crusty toothpick and q tip the whole way through, what a mess it was.  Thank God no one was taping me, I must have looked like a crazy person.  (Pipe down people, no comments from the peanut gallery).  The dots were done with the bobby pin I wore in my hair to work today, not my best but Dot really wanted to be involved in the "Wilderness Water Marble".

30 Day Challenge Day 6--Violet (Water Marble)

Wow, I feel like I just posted...well I actually did.  I didn't want to wait until tomorrow evening to post like I did earlier today so here I sit at 12:55 am blogging.  So what if I have to get up at 5:30.  THIS is dedication people!  I know I wouldn't be able to get it done tomorrow until late so I will sacrifice sleep for the sake of my peeps.

 Anywhoo, back to the nails.  Violet....now Violet I like.  Purple is my favorite color and I probably have 100 purple, violet, lilac and every polish in between.  But of course when I went to pick out an untried I drew a blank.  So I did cheat a little, I did use an untried but it's not really violet, it's more of a dark purple.  But there is violet in the design so they cancel each other out right?  Have a look and let me know if you'll let me slide....

So my untried is the dark purple, Essie No More Film and the lighter purple is one of my favorites, Essie Play Date.  Hopefully you will forgive me for this small infraction.  If not I will take my water marbles and go play elsewhere.  :)  Everything that could go wrong tonight did.   My son did something to my computer and the touch pad was totally frozen for about 2 hours.  Thank God for my husband! And now as I try to upload my photos, blogger keeps turning my very different pictures into the same picture over and over.  Grrrrr.  At least I got a few up for you to see.

Ok, the bitch fest is over, I hope you all like what I slaved over the past few hours, c'mon people this girl is looking for some sympathy over here.  Off too dreamland, hope you all have a fantabulous day!  Until tomorrow my loves...

30 Day Challenge--Day 3 Yellow (Why Do You Hate Me So Much?)

Before last night I thought yellow nails were fine, lovely, I won't have a problem with yellow nails. Well me and yellow have broken up and I am moving all of my things out of the house.  I worked on this God forsaken mani for 3 hours.  I now know why I have 20 yellow polishes and only use 2 of them.  This was by far the mani that very well could have sent me over the edge.  But I stayed strong, I held my ground and I hope you guys like what I came up with, have a peeky poo....

The water marble was done in 5 minutes, but figuring out what to do with the other 2 fingers was what got my goose.  I tried a gradient (epic bumpy fail), I tried a tape mani (hello crooked lines) and finally I decided on dots.  Dots and I get along no matter what the occasion.  

I used Maybelline Express Finish in Sunshine Sunshine.  This nasty girl was spreading no sunshine last night, in fact, I think she actually laughed at me 2 1/2 hours in as the sweat poured and I held her inches from my face begging her to cooperate.  The purple is Sally Hansen Lacey Lilac.  If you haven't figured it out by now, the formula on Ms. Sunshine was awful, she pulled, she dragged, she fought me tooth and nail but I won didn't I sunshine? *sticks tongue out* 

What do you guys think?  Was it worth the battle? 

One last thing....here is a pic of my inspiration piece with the Queen herself resting comfortably after her rough night last night.  I originally was going to do different color dots just like my background paper but we'll save that for another day....

30 Day Challenge - Day 2 Orange (Water Marble Fun)

Well I made it through Day 1 with barely a scratch and only slight staining from that devilish red polish.  I am happy we are on to bigger and brighter things, nails, colors, oh ok, I'm glad we are done with that stinkin red polish!!  There I said it....*regains composure*.....and today we have the lovely and talented color Orange to play with!!


I normally don't wear much orange unless it is a cantaloup-ey (yes it's a word, just work with me here people).  I wanted to use a traditional orange so I knew I'd have to incorporate some nail art.  Indeed I did.  Of course I didn't know what so I just did 2 of my favorite things....marbling and flowers.  My untried for this challenge is Essie Orange It's Obvious.  I've had it forever and have never bothered to even crack open the bottle.  *I had to do Chloe's rubber band around the bottle trick*.

My white was China Glaze White on White and the green centers were done with a striping polish I have had for an eternity.  The color and brand name are rubbed off but I think it's a Sinful one.  The colors marbled together just swimmingly.  The Essie Orange It's Obvious is a very saturated creamy orange.  I don't wear much of this color but it would look amazing with a tan on a hot summer day!!

I'm loving seeing all of the great entries for this challenge!! Hope you guys enjoyed this one, I think it turned out pretty darn cute!

China Glaze Bohemian Collection Water Marble

Hi loves, how is everyone today? I left work early because I wasn't feeling well, but it seems to be passing.  I absolutely do not have time to be sick.  Too much to do, go bother someone who has time, this chicky has too many back to school chores to do.

I saw someone on twitter talking about water marbling with the new Bohemian Collection from China Glaze.  Now I usually only marble with creams because shimmers and other sparkly polishes don't ever want to play nice.  But last night as I was sitting at my nail table, I was drawing a blank.  So I thought to myself, "what the hey, I guess I can give it a shot".  Am I ever glad I did! It was one of the best marbling experiences I have ever had.  The polishes spread like it was their job and the colors blended together flawlessly.  I couldn't be happier with these little guys!  It was quite tricky to get all of the sparkles off of my fingers afterwards, even though I taped AND put chap stick around my fingernails.  But it wasn't bad enough to bring me down....feast your eyes on this beauty...

Are you in heaven? No, I'm not gloating about my marbling skills, just how lovely the colors blended together.  For being shimmery duochrome polishes, they really worked well for this, which is a rare and beautifully happy, kick up your pedicured toes and do a happy dance kind of thing!

On a side note, I am having so much trouble getting my video tutorial together so I think I am going to scrap it and do a tutorial with this collection. The marble was so easy and I think you little nail freaks would really like it.  I can't promise when it will be up but I will get working on it very soon.

Water Marble or Dots, I can't Decide?!

Hi loves, what a busy week! Hope everyone is having a good week so far. We are so busy getting ready for back to school time, so sad to see summer go, but so glad to get my little heathens back in their routine.

So I wanted to try something different that I hadn't tried before but I was on a serious time crunch,  so I went with a good ol' water marble. I decided to change it up a little bit and do some dots with the marble just to see how it would look. I really like the contrast and the way it turned out. Someone on Instagram said it reminded them of candy, and I think that describes it perfectly!

For the marble I used OPI Cajun Shrimp and OPI Do You Lilac It? Yes, believe it or not I only used 2 colors. When I did the swirl it made it look as if there was a darker purple in there. That's what I think is so great about marbling. You never know how it's going to look. This can be a blessing or a curse at times. Thankfully for me, this time it was a blessing.  When I started I wasn't sure I liked these 2 colors together. I mean red and purple, really? But they actually played very well together. I've been getting much better at trying new color combinations and not sticking to my old favorites. 

Here's a shot of my elusive and very shy right hand. She never wants to have her picture taken. I think she is jealous because her sister gets all the love.

I am going to try to get it finished up tonight so hopefully that will be tomorrow's blog post. Fingers crossed....I really want to get it done for you all to see, it's just a little difficult finding time during the busy work week. 

On a side note, please pray for my friend, also named Nicole of Polish Me Please.  Her sister in law just had major brain surgery. I know what she is going through, my husband had a stroke and an aneurysm at age 32 for no apparent reason. He was so close to death, and to this day doesn't have use of his left arm. It is so hard to see someone you love fighting for their life.  Please keep her in your thoughts, her family really could use the love right now!
