Never too Late for Love!!

Hi loves, how are we all enjoying the weekend?  I have been crazy busy swatching and editing!  And I am super excited to show you all these beauties coming up!

So my friend Mara has a polish collection called White Owl Lacquer.  You may remember I featured her very first collection here a little while ago.  Mara and I had discussed it and we decided I would feature her Valentine line here on the blog.  Well life happened for both of us and I am just now getting this up.  I received the polishes this week and since I only have time on the weekend to do reviews, of course Valentine's Day came and went.  BUT.....love is eternal right?  Love isn't only on one day and since the collection is centered around love....I think I'm right on time!

So enough blabbing....let's get into these babies....

Never Let Me Go:

Never Let Me Go is a milky white base with round glitters in different shades of pink.  At first I was disappointed that I didn't use white undies under this but after 3 thin coats I actually was quite happy with how it turned out.  It is such a soft pretty look.  Even though there is glitter all through this beauty, I still felt super delicate (like a flowaaaa) wearing it.  Application was nice, I did have to do a little fishing for glitter.  But I can't complain because if this was packed full of glitter, I wouldn't have been able to achieve this super sweet girly look that I enjoyed so much!

I was curious how this would look with a white base so......

It's amazing how different this look is just with a white base!  This look is definitely more me!  Loud, super fun and polka dotted.....I think that describes my life!  Either way I really liked this polish both ways I tried it.  Can't go wrong with circle glitter!!

Come To Me:

I love this polish!!  If you aren't a fan of visible nail line (VNL) then you probably will want to use some undies under this baby.  I don't mind it and I like how it keeps with the delicate vibe that I got from this collection.  Come to Me is a super light milky baby blue base with pink and blue glitter throughout.  I love the different sizes and shapes of the glitters.  The larger blue hexes were my favorite! There also were some square iridescent glitters that I haven't yet made a decision on.  I don't know if I love them or not.  On a few nails I thought they added a little something but on a few others they seemed out of place.  Either way I love this polish, the formula was great, I didn't have to do any fishing with this baby.  I think next time I will try this with a baby blue base just for a little extra pop!

A Little Danger:

Hopefully mama is wearing a helmet cause she's about to get slapped into next week!

A Little Danger is a glitter topper in a clear base filled with pink circle glitter and gold squares.  I love this layered over black!  My base was Nails Inc Black Taxi.  The formula was great, I didn't do any fishing for glitter!  I was quite impressed with how well the coverage was on this little lady!  I felt hot and sexy wearing this like I wanted to get into "a little danger"!!

There was supposed to be a 4th polish but Mara was having some trouble with solvent resistant bleeding glitter so hopefully I will get that one up for you once this problem is resolved.

All in all I was quite happy with this collection.  I especially love A Little Danger layered over black!!

White Owl Lacquer can be purchased here on Mara's website.  She is such a sweet girl with a knack for great nail polish!!

Happy Polishing Loves!

White Owl Lacquer....and a lot of Mama Slapping!

Hi kids, I'm super excited about today's post!  It's from a friend and it's pretty damn amazing!!  I always get a little nervous when reviewing polishes for a friend because I am brutally honest but I don't want to hurt peoples feelings.  Luckily this collection is so good the only person crying is gonna be the momma I slap into next week as soon as I'm done with this post!

Enough talk....allow me to introduce you all to White Owl Lacquer, the brilliant line released by my fellow blogger and friend Mara.  Let me tell ya what, she really did a kick ass job with this line. I can always tell when a line is great when I put one on and say, "wait, wait, THIS one is my favorite, definitely" and then as soon as I swatch the next one, "oh no THIS one, this one is my favorite". I must have showed my husband 4 different favorites before I finally made my mind up.

The name of the line is "After all this Time", and is inspired by the world of Harry Potter.  Super fun, let's get right into it...

Pumpkins and Pasties:

Perfect for Fall and Winter!

I honestly didn't think I would like this one on, but I ended up loving it! Reminds me of falling leaves and the changing colors of fall!  Mara nailed this one perfectly! (See what I did there).  PnP starts off with a tan jelly base which applied very smooth and even.  Glitters in red, yellow and brown give this baby it's kick! Such a great color if you want something neutral but still super fun! This is 3 coats and Seche Vite.

Kittens and Teacups:

Sweet and innocent, just like me....if you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you!  Seriously though, how cute is this polish?  KAT is a white jelly base with teeny tiny black square glitter and baby pink hexes. This one stole my heart as soon as I put it on.  The formula was perfect.  Usually with glitters this tiny, the payoff is very slim.  I didn't have any problems, the way you see my nail is how the polish applied.  I didn't have to do any glitter placement and that my friends is a reason to slap your mammy!

If you're not a fan of visible nail line (VNL) then you probably will want to use white undies with this.  I don't mind it, and I actually think in this case, the VNL keeps the look super sweet and delicate.

3 coats and Seche Vite.

Basilisk Venom

I am ashamed to say I wasn't super excited about this one and it ended up being one of my favorites.  The different shaped chunky black glitter looks so good layered over anything.  And the red and orange hex glitter just adds such a fun little pop of color.  Perfect formula, again I didn't do any fishing for glitter.  I am over the moon for this baby!

My undies from pinky to index are:
Selena Gomez for NOPI- Love Song
Julie G My Private Palace
Essence Snow White Collection- Sneezy
China Glaze Def Defying

I think my favorite layering combo would have to be Def Defying but I also really loved it over the sparkly My Private Palace.  This glitter topper is so much more versatile than I initially gave it credit for.  I almost slapped my kids over this one, it was so damn good!

1 coat of BV and Seche Vite.

Dwelling on Dreams:

Isn't she a beaut? DOD is a white jelly base with baby teal and brighter teal hex glitters and an array of micro gold glitter dancing all over the nail!  My pictures are making the glitter appear much bluer than they are.  This is definitely much more teal than it is showing and oh so gorgeous!  I was worried I should have used white undies with this one but 3 easy coats and I was good to go.  You could use a white base if you want a brighter finish but I was quite happy with the squishy jelly all on it's own.

3 coats and Seche Vite.

Moony:

Oh yeah mama better be wearing a freaking helmet cause I am in love!  Easily my favorite of the bunch.  The silver and black glitters were so abundant in this baby that I couldn't contain myself.  I think I did a little dance as I applied this.  Application was a dream, I didn't have to wrestle with the bottle to get the larger glitters out and that makes me one happy girl!  And should we even bother discussing how amazingly perfect the silver micro glitter makes everything?  I mean, take a look, it speaks for itself!

I layered this little lady over Zoya Charisma and I loved it so much I still have it on.  I can't bear to take it off!

1 coat with Seche Vite.

Phoenix Tears:

I know I showed this one the other day, but come on, it's so good who would be upset about having to see it again?  I absolutely love this glitter.  It is very unique and fun!  I've always said I am a square in a world of circles, so this polish is very fitting for me! Definitely cracking some heads over this one!  Mamas of the world, take cover! The blue shimmer that runs through this is such a great addition.  It takes this baby from "great glitter" to "someone get behind me, this ho is about to faint"

1 coat and Seche Vite.

You guys have to go check out this line, it is so much fun!  After all this Time can be purchased on Big Cartel.  Polishes are $9 individually (full size) and $27 for the set (mini's).

I am so proud of Mara for realizing her dream and making it happen!  Not only did she release her own polish line but she released a kick ass, mama's in a coma kinda line. There are definitely a few that I must have in a full size bottle!  Basilisk Venom, Moony and Phoenix Tears are my faves and I will be placing my order very soon!  Will you?

Let me know what you guys think of White Owl Lacquer!  Which one is your favorite?

Happy Polishing loves!

Julie G Cabana Boy and a Preview of White Owl Lacquer

What up home skillets? Is it Friday yet?  This week is dragging and so is this stinking winter!! I wish I was in Australia right now enjoying a little summer sun!

As you guys probably know if you follow me on IG....I am a huge fan of Julie G brand polishes.  They can be purchased at Rite Aid, they are inexpensive and they are freaking amazing!  Colors to slap a baby for, nice smooth creams and gorgeous glitters!  So I was at Rite Aid the other day and I cruised by the Julie G aisle as I always do.  I was quite thrilled when I realized that the new collection was sitting there and I swear I heard a little "please take us home, we hear your house is a polish playground".  So I grabbed a few and I couldn't be happier.  I will most likely go back for the rest very soon.  I'm a sucker for some Julie G!!

Cabana Boy is easily my favorite of the bunch.  It is a gorgeous saturated bright blue cream with a formula that just don't quit.

She reminds me a lot of Sally Hansen Pacific Blue and Nails Inc Baker St.  I love this formula better than any of them though!  It is so creamy and opaque.  I used 2 buttery coats and topped her with a coat of Seche Vite.

Of course I had to top her with something but I didn't want to take away from the gorgeous color. And I had just the thing! White Owl Lacquer in Phoenix Tears was just the girl for the job.  My friend Mara recently put out her own line of polishes and was kind enough to send me one of each to try and review.  (The rest are coming up Saturday, can't wait to share them with you!!) I will go into much more detail  about the line and how amazingly awesome Mara is.  But for now I would like to introduce you to Phoenix Tears and the debut of White Owl Lacquer on Young Wild and Polished.

Obsessed is an understatement.  PT is such a fun glitter topper and is so versatile. Application was a dream, no fishing for glitter and no clumps at all!  I always worry when I review something for someone I call a friend but I can honestly say Mara has hit it out of the park with this line!  She deserves everything great that is coming her way!!

Mara describes the glitter as "white snowy glitter with a touch of sparkly blue, green and purple in a clear shimmery base."   It was exactly what I was looking for and possibly my favorite of the collection.  But more on that Saturday!

Tune in this weekend for the rest of the mama smackin glitters.  Make sure your mammy's are ready in their helmets and pads!

Happy Polishing y'all!!
