Flower Nail Art for the Seasons...and a special guest!

Hello my loves, I have to apologize for being away for a bit....life got a little cray cray with summer ending and school starting! Sadly this poor little blog seems to be the thing I neglect the most, and I need to stop doing that! On the plus side, if you ever miss me so much you can't stand it, you can always visit me on Instagram and YouTube....shameless plug....

I did manage to get some nail art done recently....for some reason, I've been back into my flowers! I've done 2 back to back manicures with those cute little guys! I go in phases with this design....some days I love it, other days I feel like it's blahhh....

The first mani is my "getting ready for fall" nails...

I never was one for red nails but lately they have been a slight obsession of mine! This combination made me want to punch a baby, but I resisted and instead decked my hubs...jk, I only slapped him and it was very light, everyone settle down!

I used OPI Dutch Tulips and Nails Inc. Porchester Square for this flowery number. Funny how a flower manicure reminds me of fall....it must be something about the darker colors.

Dutch Tulips is a gorgeous poppy red color, with a kick ass formula! OPI pretty much does everything right, I don't know that I have any OPI polishes that aren't really nice?! And Porchester Square is another polish that makes me want to go all Miley Cyrus on peeps. (No I don't want to twerk and hang my tongue out of my mouth like a mental patient, I just want to get a little bit crazy....good polish does that to me!) The formula is good and the color is a really nice mix between tan and grey....it's a great transition color for, yep you guessed it, fall, which I am dreading by the way. Can't it just be summer forever?

Speaking of summer.....

Yep, the same flowers but with a summery twist. I love a good aqua/coral mix, and this perddy girl had me getting out the boxing gloves!

I used Color Club Blue-Ming and Sally Hansen Coral Reef. Sadly I couldn't get Coral Reef to photograph true to color....she is not this dark in real life, maybe she's hiding from the cops or something, I don't know but she definitely was wearing a disguise in this pic! I let it slide because the formula is incredible! Smooth, buttery and perfectly opaque in 2 coats!

Too bad I can't say the same thing about little miss Blue-Ming. She battled me every step of the way, as she always does! But the color is so gorgeous and bright, that I let it slide! I used 3 coats for the above pic, 3 uneven spotty coats that did kind of even out once I slapped on a little magical Seche Vite. (Coral Reef only required 2).

I have to include this next pic, simply for the cute factor! My daughter Emma who just turned 12, finally stopped biting her nails....so this was her first official YWP mani! She was thrilled with it, and I promised her I would share it with all of my friends!

I used Wet n Wild Teal Slowly and See which I talk about in my most recent favorites video which I will link below. The formula is awesome, and the color....well...look at it, it's gorg! I also used Essie Blanc and Essie Licorice for the nail art! I topped everything with INM Northern Lights, which explains the pretty sparkle going on!

I am so proud of my little bean for breaking her nail biting habit....I'm sure this will not be the last time you see her cute little nails! She's becoming quite the nail freak, I don't know where she gets that from?!

Are you guys ready for fall? Or are you stuck in the middle like me? I'm ready for the dark, vampy colors that go with the colder weather, but I don't want the dark, sad nights that come along with it! And Christmas....psssh don't even get me started!

Color Club Blue-Ming All Day Err Day

Hi muffins, I was thinking about skipping nail art tonight, but I just couldn't resist.  I'm currently hooked, I mean majorly hooked on a nail polish.  Ever get that way with a specific color? You just can't stop thinking about it, it makes you all warm and fuzzy inside. Anyone else? Anyone?

Maybe I'm a nut....wait, I think we figured that out in post #1....either way, I'm in lurve with a color and I must share with my friends....

I actually did 2 manicures with this baby this week....

Mmmhhmmm, momma smacking at it's finest!  The beauty I'm speaking of is Color Club Blue-Ming, a gorgeous bright mint green color. I've owned this little lady for over a year and decided to dust it off and finally give it some love. And oh baby, am I glad I did! The formula is pretty good, a bit streaky but evens out nicely on it's own. Topped with Seche Vite, this baby is perfect!

The nail art I did with this was my same ol' "Diamond Nail". I used Sation Tardy Tart which just happens to be my favorite polish of 2012.  The most perfect purple evaa!!

Since I'm totally obsessed with Blue-Ming, I decided to slap that puppy on my nails again and add some nail art (yawn) of course!

I love these colors together, definitely one of my favorite combinations! It's been awhile since I've done my trademark flowers so I decided to go all out and put those petals on all my digits. The only thing I need now is a Pina Colada and a supermodel's body to put into this bikini that's gathering dust in my top drawer.

The flower center's were done with Essie Blanc, the greatest white polish to ever roam the Earth!

So a Jelly and a Cream Walk into a Bar......Essie Bouncer It's Me

Hey loves, everyone ready for the weekend? I know I am!  I'm going to a winery with my mama tomorrow so I'm excited for a grown up beverage and some QT with the mom dukes!  Any exciting plans for any of you lovelies?

So when I sat down tonight to do ma nails, I knew what color I wanted to use but I didn't know what kind of nail art I wanted to add.  I settled on a simple little dotticure and I think it turned out pretty (mama smackin) well!  You be the judge....

First off, can we please take a minute for this amazingly gorgeous color.  Ok now that we got that out of the way....can someone please punch me in the face?  I can't take it, it's too pretty.  Must...get...violent.  Someone bring me a baby to slap around.

Essie Bouncer It's Me is the name of this little beauty and let me tell you what....everytime I wear her, I love the color more and more.  The formula is kind of a mix between a jelly and a cream (a crelly) and I absolutely love it.  She does require 3 pretty decent coats which usually I would say....ain't nobody got time fo that BUT with this gorgeous girl I really don't mind.  The formula is quite nice, a typical crelly....sheer at first but builds up nicely to perfect squishy jelly filled heaven.

The ring finger is a typical YWP dotticure.  I did the ol' 5 dot flowers in Essie Blanc then popped a dot in the center with Lime Crime Crema de Limon. Seche Vite topped off the whole shebang.

I didn't want to take away from the incredible color so I kept it short and sweet. Sometimes less is more, especially with a sexy little number like Bouncer. Honestly I could wear this on it's own and be perfectly content.

Bestie Twin Nails with Armstrong Amber!

Hi buttercups, how are we all on this lovely summer day?  I never want it to end...every morning I wake up and feel slightly sad cause I know we are one day closer to winter.  Blah!  I am definitely loving every second of this hot gorgeous summer weather.  If only PA would be warm all year, that would make me one happy little nail whore.

Nails Nicole, nails....

So my lovely friend Amber (on the streets we call her Armstrong Amber, you know how we roll) and I decided to jump on the twinsie nail train and ride that sucker into the sunset.  If you have no idea what I'm talking about (happens alot, I'm starting to develop a complex) allow me to explain.  Bestie twin nails, bestie twinsies, best friends for life ride or die bitches, whatever you'd like to call it is something that started on Instagram (I think) and is a fun and simple way to showcase nail art and friendship.  2 or more girls get together and plan a manicure to do together using similar colors and designs.  The finished product is a big fat bestie twin sandwich!

Amber and I have made this a monthly thing so you will be getting BT nails once a month! ( I couldn't bring myself to say bestie twin again).  This is what we came up with for June....

Pretty dang cute eh?  Amber's beauties are on top and mine are on the bottom.

We used Essie Off the Shoulder, Essie Mint Candy Apple, and China Glaze Glistening Snow.

The gradient is very simple to do even though it looks a bit tricky.  I put down a white base and topped it with Seche Vite.  After that was dry (about 15 minutes) I took a damp makeup sponge and added my 2 Essie colors.  I dabbed that onto my nail a few times, let it dry and did a second layer.  Seche Vite on top and you're good to go!  I will have a tutorial coming up on my YouTube channel (youngwildandpolished) very soon!

Flower Nail Art and My New Favorite Pink Polish!

Hi my loves...what a crappy day I am having.  Ever have one of those days where nothing seems to go right? Well, that's today for me!  Just got done fighting with the insurance company.  I do feel a bit better after telling some really intelligent gentleman off (can you smell the sarcasm) and calling him a turd face.  Yep, first thing that came to my mind....turd face...what can I say, I'm super mature!

Anywhoo...I did some nail art last night and am very excited to share it with you all.  I am very pleased with how it turned out.  I realized that I hadn't done my trademark flowers in a hot minute so I got my self together and this is what I came up with....

Slap your mama and call her Fannie....first that came to mind, don't judge me people.

I loved this design so much I even did it on ma toes.  I won't show you a picture, trust me you will thank me.  My toes do NOT need to be front and center on anyone's computer!

I used a new polish for this little diddy....Elle Pink about It.  I picked it up from Kohl's and it may very well be my new favorite pink polish!  Formula is amaze balls.  It reminds me of Essie Boom Boom Room but *gasp* better.  It applied like buttah and the color is so opaque and beautiful! I used 2 coats for the pics above.

I also used Essie Licorice, Essie Blanc, and China Glaze Glistening Snow. My bottle of Glistening Snow (from the 2012 Holiday Joy Collection) is quite low which equals extreme sadness because this glitter is so good!  Full coverage and shimma shimma to beat the band!  I usually end up with visions of someone's mama being taken down by an enormous life size boxing glove every time I wear it!

A Kitchen Sink Mani does a Body Good!

What a day!  I'm so glad to be home in my jammies getting ready to paint my nails and watch a little Dexter!  It has been pouring buckets here all day.  Ahhh good Pennsylvania weather, can't beat it!

So today's mani is the result of me purchasing a few new colors and not being able to wait to wear them.  Instead of wearing just one as a normal person would, I had to incorporate both of them into this mani.  It's the impatient Greek in me, what can I say?

But I do love how it turned out....

I originally was going to stamp something on my ring finger but I think the flowers turned out quite cute!

Colors used were: China Glaze Glistening Snow (pinky)

                            Revlon Urban (Navy)

                            Julie G Damsel (Pink)

                            OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls (White)

So after a little momma smacking and kid beating, I realized that I really love pink and navy together. Revlon Urban is nice because it's not quite a deep dark navy.  Sometimes when I wear a dark blue, it ends up just looking like black and this one actually kept its nice vibrant blue color.  Urban is new from Revlon and is part of the Urban Nights/Bubblegum Days Collection.  This little lady has been outshadowed by Girly and Heavenly, 2 super fun glitters that seem to be fan favorites.  If you come across this collection make sure to pay attention to the nice creme colors and not just the glitter babies!  Urban is definitely a nice addition to any polish stash.  I can easily say it is unique in my collection!

Damsel is one of the newer polishes from Julie G.  This brand can be found at Rite Aid and is quite inexpensive but you would never know it from their polishes.  With creamy super saturated colors, you easily could confuse these for a much pricier polish.  I have yet to be disappointed with a polish from this line.  I probably have about 25 of them and I love every single one, color and formula!  And spending less than $4 for a bottle of polish....yeah...count me in!

Flowers for a Friend!

Hi kiddos, how are we doing on this lovely Monday night?  Did everyone survive the dreaded first day of the work week?  Here's to hoping this week flies by! 

Last night I received a message on Twitter from my friend Ally over at Reach For the Polish.  She is a sweet hilarious chica that I have met in my nail polish travels.  So she sends me a link telling me to go check out her blog post.  I was floored when I read what she had (probably in a drunken stupor, hehe) typed about lil old me.  She had dedicated a blog post to me and said some of the nicest things anyone has ever said about me. Here is the post  that melted my cold little heart.

  I was and still am somewhat shocked at the downright love I have received since I have started this blog, and the amazing women I have met.  I couldn't stop thinking about all the lovely things Ally had written, even today while at work.  So I decided that I, in turn, owed Ally something to say thank you.  Since she resides in New Zealand, I couldn't exactly drop her a bouquet of flowers, so in true nail blogger form, this is what I came up with.

For this mani I did my favorite, and I guess my trademark, dot flowers.  The colors I used were Revlon Raven Red, Lime Crime Milky Way, and Revlon Knockout.  For those of you interested in recreating these very simple (I swear) flowers, there is a tutorial tab on my blogs home page.  They honestly are very easy to do with a dotting tool, bobby pin or something with a rounded end that you could dot with.  The combinations are endless color wise.  I think I have done this mani or something very similar about 100 times, but each time it is so unique due to my different color choices.  The flowers I did this time were done with my largest dotter.  If you want a more delicate look, you can simply use a smaller dotter and spread the flowers out a little more. 

 

Please go check out Ally's blog, she is absolutely hilarious and so kind hearted.  She's obviously a bad judge of character but we can let that slide can't we? :)

Essie Winter Collection??? Is That You?!?!

Hi loves, it's late as balls here and I have to be up in 3 hours but I really wanted to get a post done, so this is gonna be short and super sweet. 

I was at Rite Aid the other day and what did I see?  The new Essie Winter Collection...is that you?  Is this a flippin mirage?  No she was really there and she begged me to buy every single one plus a backup just in case. (I didn't buy the orangy red because well, yeah have you met me?)  I am head over heels in love, do you hear me?  IN LOVE.  I love Essie to begin with.  She could put a turd in a bottle and I would be all in.  But this collection is seriously a really amazing collection!!

Yep, here's my one extremely large picture, WTF??

 

 

 

 

Is she not the most gorgeous thing ever?  I know, there are tons of Tiffany blue polishes but this one is different.  The color is just so BAM.  (It must be late, I just turned into Emeril Lagasse, holy shit) 

 

So the flowers are done with Butler Please which is a gorgeous saturated Purple Blue that dries pretty matte which I could take or leave but what the hell.  The base for the accent nail is Beyond Cozy, which in my opinion is the stand out of this collection.  I have been raving about it on Instagram.  The glitter is a full coverage slap the crap outta your mammy polish!  It has mini glitter (yeah I just made that up, but pretend I know what the eff I'm doing here) that I just adore because they cover the nail so well. I think technically they are micro glitter but when do we get technical here?  This is hands down the best glitter I own and I own a lot, probably over 100.

 

The formula on Where's my Chauffeur was good.  I'm not dying over it (or slapping Francine) but it wasn't bad.  I did 2 coats, a thin and then a thick second one.  I should have done 3 thin but I was lazy and tired.  I had a little pulling and spottiness but it was covered nicely with my enormously thick amateurish second coat.

I wish I could rave about this polish and this collection all night but a girl needs her beauty rest.  I will be dedicating the whole following week to this new collection....please do us all a favor and go buy your poor mother a helmet.

 

Sidenote...this collection is technically called The Essie Leading Lady Collection, named after the red glitter of the bunch.  It's also being called the Winter Collection, which is how you will hear me refer to it.  I, after all, am the only leading lady on this blog.

Delicate Flower Mani...and the Usual Weekend Psychosis!

Hello loves, is everyone enjoying their Saturday?  I certainly am.  I'm attempting to relax but I have 2 children fighting directly in front of me...they might as well just jump on my face and wrestle there... and another child telling me how much life sucks (He's 16, doesn't everything suck at 16?) 

So I retreated to the bathroom, locked the door and pretended I had been struck with a severe intestional illness.  "Don't come close or you will be pooping your brains out"....yeah, they definitely pounded concrete after that comment.  So here I sit on the bathroom floor, peace and quiet all around....I do feel bad for my poor husband downstairs....alone...in the trenches. But this mani I have to show you just can't wait...

 

 

 

 

You guys.....I freaking LOVE this mani!! It is definitely in my top 5!!  I don't mean to toot my own horn but-- wait, yes I do.  A good self induced horn tooting is good from time to time.  *TOOT*  *TOOT*   I used Butter London Sprog (blue), Essie Yogaga (tan) and Essie I am Strong (pink) for this little delicate flowa.  The index and pinky are simply dotted with a very light hand and a super tiny dotter.  On the middle finger I simply dotted some tiny flowers.  I did them the same way I normally do but I used a much smaller dotter and spaced them out a little bit more.

Sprog is a polish I picked up last week, after eyeing it up for weeks or maybe even months.  It did not disappoint.  Formula was heaven and all I needed were 2 thin coats for perfectly opaque nails.  Yogaga I have used before, it's nothing to write home about, just a basic light tan.  Good coverage, a little streaky.  I definitely will not be slapping my poor mother over this one.  Hasn't she suffered enough for you people?  I am strong, the pretty pink on my ring finger is from Essie's 2012 collection of the same name.  It's a nice pastel pink with decent application.

I am quite proud of this mani.  Who knew Dot could be so delicate?  I will be trying this look out with different color combinations.  I do really like the delicate design paired with the muted colors.  What colors do you think would look good with this delicate nail art?

Polish Us Pink (and a Little Marbled)

Hi nail crazies *waves furiously* how is everyone on this manic Monday?  I really wanted to get this posted last night, but my computer was not cooperating so alas, it had to wait until now.

I couldn't decide which mani I wanted to use out of 2 cute ones that I did....so I will post them both for you....so sort of a Polish Us Pink spam sandwich if you will.  I just love pink Mondays!  Pink polish is one of my favorite colors to wear, so this for me is really really fun!

The first mani I did is a little water marble I just tried to see how it would turn out, and I ended up really liking it.  Of course Dot was ticked I didn't do a dot mani, so she comes into play in the second mani.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

My computer sucks total ass and that just took me 20 minutes to upload those 2 pics, Lawd help me!!  Anywhoo, for this WM I used Essie Off the Shoulder and Essie Bobbing for Baubles.  I know this looks a little bit like black, but it is navy, I swear!  I really am happy with how this turned out.  And I am liking the 2 plain "accent" fingers with the 2 different colors.  Mixes it up a little bit!

 

The next one I did just out of sheer boredom...but it turned out pretty cute.  I posted it on Instagram and everyone seemed to really like it so I will share it with my loves....

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And that took me 40 minutes....screw watermelons, I am ready to Gallagher the shit out of this computer.  Ok, deep breath.....the nails, yes the nails....what do you guys think?  I don't think I've ever done a full print mani like this.  I see other bloggers dot and it looks really cute so I thought I would give it a shot.  I will have to do more of these!!

 

I used Essie Ballet Slippers for my base.  The flowers were done with Essie Cascade Cool and Essie Bobbing for Baubles.  Almost the same exact colors for both mani's (kinda sorta) but such different looks!

 

Which one do you prefer?  Hope you guys enjoyed my Polish Us Pink mani's, thanks for dealing with my venting about this POS computer.....*now where did I put that mallet?*

Essie Sew Psyched and Flowers for my Loves!

Howdy all, I know I have been a little missing in action, and for that I am sorry.  Life took over and I was just way too busy to even think about sitting down and posting.  I missed you all!!  As you probably have figured out, I have bowed out of the 30 day challenge.  I really enjoyed doing it, but with a few things that are going on in my personal life right now, I felt I couldn't dedicate enough time to it, and I don't do things half way.

Anywhoo, my son Hunter got his permit.  Oh sweet Jesus, I have never been so fearful in all of my life.  I sit in the passenger seat, sweating like a whore in church and just pray that we don't die.  Isn't that awful.  Great kid, gotta get the driving thing down though.

Ok so nails, yes nails....I did this mani a few days ago and really fell in love with it.  I think it was the base color that made me fall head over heels in love.  Have a look and then I'll tell you all about it...

 

 

 

 

Yes??  The base color is Essie Sew Psyched,  and let me tell you, this girl is definitely psyched.  The color is divine!!  It's almost an army green, but in a sweet girly sort of way.  The formula was amazing, no problems with anything.  Photos are 2 coats, a few I did 3 just for a more saturated color.  On my ring and index fingers, I dotted on some little flowers with Sinful Colors Black on Black and OPI Alpine Snow.  The gorgeous "slap your momma and her momma" glitter on my other fingers is Lush Lacquer Salt N Peppa.  I literally would punch myself in the face if I had to in order to have this polish on my nails.  The shimmer in it is so amazing.  My bottle is almost empty and thick and goopy but I love it so much I think I will be scraping the last bits out with a toothpick.

 

What do you guys think?  Will you get Essie Sew Psyched?  I promise to be a better blogger...my goal for the next few months is to consistently post daily.  You guys are loyal to me and for that you deserve me at least once a day.  (I can't promise that Dot won't show up acting like the bitch that she is but...)

30 Day Challenge Day 14-Flowers (The Little Mani That Could)

First let me apologize for being so behind in my post....I know this is coming in really late, I have been fighting with my laptop for 2 days.  I finally realized it wasn't Blogger that was the problem. (Sorry Blogger for all of the cursing and screaming I did at you, you didn't deserve it).  The problem was my stupid, idiotic craptastic computer.  I think I fixed it, and for now we are up and running.  I did have visions of me never being able to get into my blog and I pity anyone who was within 50 feet of me last night.  God bless my poor husband!

Ok I'm done bitching, let's talk nails!  So today's challenge was flowers.  You all know I am all about a good flower.  I wanted to do something a little different but that was an epic, and I'm talking super duper epic fail.  So I did what I know and love, my little dot flowers. *Dot enters the room, waves hi and struts back out, shaking what her mama gave her* 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Not too bad huh?  I just love doing these sweet little flowers and they are so simple to do!  There is a tutorial on one of my early posts.  My untried was Loreal Grecian Goddess.  It's a beautiful creamy gray color.  I love the color and the name, uh hello grecian goddess? Um, have you met me?  If you don't know, my family is 100% old school greek.  Loud, crazy...yeah greek!  Some of my family lives right in Athens and my grandparents don't speak a lick of english.  I digress, so sorry...but yeah, I loved the name of this beauty.  Formula was great, 2 coats had it totally opaque, no dragging, no spottiness, just a lovely saturated color.  The black I used is Sinful Colors Black on Black and the white is my old faithful, Milani High Speed Fast Dry White on the Spot. 

 

Hope you guys enjoyed the mani that almost didn't happen.  Thank God for my husband and his computer fixin brain!

Hi loves, how is everyone today? I apologize for being so late with this post.  I wanted to get it posted last night before bed but....life happened so here I am at 6 in the evening finally getting it done.  Hope it was worth the wait!


I knew immediately what color I wanted to use for "blue day".  I got this gorgeous Maybelline Color Show Styled Out a few weeks ago but never got around to swatching it, other than trying it out on one finger.  It looks just like sparkly blue jeans!  Have a peeky poo....

Isn't it just the perfect color?  Formula on this little beauty was perfection.  I could have gotten away with one coat and it would have been totally fine.  Full coverage, no pulling, no spottiness, nothing.  I did 2 just to make it a little darker.  It would have been perfectly fine on its own but you know me, gotta add a little somethin somethin.  So I dotted some cute little flowers on my tips using Milani High Speed Fast Dry White on the Spot.  The centers of the flowers are done with Zoya Shelby, one of my most loved pink polishes.  

I loved this mani so much I did both hands!  

I received some many compliments on this today at work!  The girls I work with really loved it.  (Something tells me I will be doing this mani on a few friends very soon).  

What do you guys think?  How is the 30 day challenge working out for everyone?  I'm loving it so far, looking forward to the nail art portion of it!!  I will need to broaden my horizons though and get out of my comfort zone.  But that's what this is all about right?

30 Day Challenge - Day 2 Orange (Water Marble Fun)

Well I made it through Day 1 with barely a scratch and only slight staining from that devilish red polish.  I am happy we are on to bigger and brighter things, nails, colors, oh ok, I'm glad we are done with that stinkin red polish!!  There I said it....*regains composure*.....and today we have the lovely and talented color Orange to play with!!


I normally don't wear much orange unless it is a cantaloup-ey (yes it's a word, just work with me here people).  I wanted to use a traditional orange so I knew I'd have to incorporate some nail art.  Indeed I did.  Of course I didn't know what so I just did 2 of my favorite things....marbling and flowers.  My untried for this challenge is Essie Orange It's Obvious.  I've had it forever and have never bothered to even crack open the bottle.  *I had to do Chloe's rubber band around the bottle trick*.

My white was China Glaze White on White and the green centers were done with a striping polish I have had for an eternity.  The color and brand name are rubbed off but I think it's a Sinful one.  The colors marbled together just swimmingly.  The Essie Orange It's Obvious is a very saturated creamy orange.  I don't wear much of this color but it would look amazing with a tan on a hot summer day!!

I'm loving seeing all of the great entries for this challenge!! Hope you guys enjoyed this one, I think it turned out pretty darn cute!
