My Top 15 Polishes of 2012

Can you believe it's already time for this?  I only started blogging half way through the year but that didn't make this any easier!  2012 was an amazing year for nail polish and we had some seriously awesome releases. Just ask my poor mother.  That poor woman got the crap knocked out of her.  Whoever came up with the phrase "Slap your Mamma" ought to be taken out and shot.

These are in no particular order, but I will give you my top pick of 2012 at the end....

 Essie Where's My Chauffeur:

I was so excited for this polish and when I finally got my manicured paws on it, I was not disappointed at all!  The formula was great and the payoff was even better.  Creamy, bright and such a fun color to wear!  Easily my favorite Essie of the year and the only Essie on this list, can you believe it?

Zoya Aurora:

Do I even need to say why?  Look at that shimmy!  The formula is perfection and the glimmer and shimmer dancing around on your fingers makes you want to slap your mammy into next year!!  Zoya killed it with their Holiday Collection.  I loved them all but this definitely was a stand out for me!

Sation It's All Navy Baby:

Sation was the brand of the year for me.  I discovered them at Marshall's by mistake and I haven't been the same since.  I am in love with this brand.  Imagine my surprise when I opened the bottle to try this beauty and realized she was a full on jelly!!  Thank you sweet baby Jesus.  I had so much fun with this polish.  It is so squishy and gorgeous and perfect in every way!  I love you Sation, will you marry me.  *drifts off to dream land*

Layla Ceramic Effect Number 42-Miami Green:

I pray no one was watching me when I found the Layla display at Ulta.  As soon as I saw it, this was the first one I grabbed as I let out a little squeeee!!  And she didn't disappoint.  Ceramic effect simply means super smooth and not requiring a base or top coat. I never use a base but a top coat is a must for me, although I didn't need one with this beauty.  The finish is super smooth and almost rubbery.  The saturated color and amazing formula made this a shoe in for my top 20. (Above pic is without topcoat)

Sation Ego-Friendly:

Sation Ego-Friendly:

How fun is this glitter?  I wasn't sure of this Sation glitter when I first saw it.  But I am so happy I picked it up!  Over black this bad ass little lady comes to life!  Filled with shards and pieces of every green shade you can imagine, this truly is a kick ass polish.  Everytime I have worn this, I have had at least 2 people approach me and ask about it.  I have nothing else like it in my collection and I don't think I ever will!  Sation hit a homerun with this bad momma!  If you are a fan of edgy polishes, you have to get Ego-Friendly!  Definitely a mama smacking glitter!!

China Glaze Blue Bells Ring:

I wasn't thrilled about this polish until I put it on, then I couldn't get enough!  I own a lot, a LOT of blue nail polish, and this one was easily a top for me.  It almost looks as if it is lit from within.  I almost wrecked my car when I wore this, I swear, I could not take my eyes off of it! The finish is almost a foil.  It is a super smooth electric blue with a hint of silver throughout.  Ahhh, so good!

Layla Ceramic Effect Green Galaxy:

Do I even need to say anything about this?  I mean come on, this polish is so freaking gorgeous I want to punch myself into next year!  A deep green jelly with large green glitter.  When you wear this, it looks as if the glitter is suspended in the jelly goodness. I can't even put into words how much I love this squishy beauty!

Butter London Bluey:

I almost took this one off of the list, and then I realized that I just didn't love this pic too much.  When I think back to the last time I wore this, I immediately begin to drool (more than usual) and get a little sweaty.  Yes, good polish makes my heart race, I'm not ashamed.  All BL polishes are bad ass but this one has a little something extra.  I am a sucker for a good tealy blue color and when the formula is buttery, you might as well get behind me, cause honey, I'm about to faint.  This polish is an orgasm in a bottle.

OPI GoldenEye:

I'm not a fan of gold anything, polish, jewelry, blah, not my cup of tea. That all changed when I put this polish on.  I cannot even explain how sparkly and amazing she is.  Application is flawless and the color is just so...so... perfect.  I currently have this on my toes, and my husband even commented on how great it is.  The man who could miss a bomb dropping inches from his recliner actually noticed this without me having to stick my toes in his grill.  That's saying something!  Everyone needs to own this polish!

Sation Miss Emo Shun All

Are there even words for how gorgeous this polish is?  A deep purple that dries to a glorious matte finish.  I am obsessed with super shiny polish so I always topcoat but this lady is just as gorgeous left alone.  (Above pic is with topcoat).  I am ashamed to say I haven't gotten the chance to feature this on the blog or on IG but I will very very soon!  I recently found this beauty at Marshall's and let out a loud EEEKK as soon as I spotted her sitting there just looking at me with that gorgeous purple finish.  The formula is heaven.  She does require a steady hand.  Cuticle staining will occur if you aren't careful.  Worth it I would say though, don't you agree?  Sation came out with some glorious polishes this year and I am so fortunate to own so many of them! Easily a favorite of 2012 and every year to come!

OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls:

I already know what you're thinking...why is she wasting a spot on a plain old white polish.  Well, you obviously don't own this little lady.  This is easily my most used polish of 2012.  It's not white, it's not grey.  The best way I can find to describe it is white polish with one drop of a dusty grey.  Just enough to take the edge off.  Whites are so harsh, this is white without the "in your face" quality.  If I had to choose 2 polishes to have for the rest of my life, (I know, I'm sweating just thinking about it), this would easily be one of them.  Formula is flawless, creamy opaque perfection. I'm on my 5th bottle of this and I'm not ashamed to say it!

Selena Gomez for NOPI in Selena:

Ok, so this collection wasn't to be released until January of 2013 but they bumped it to December.  So technically I can include this beauty right? Well either way I am.  I was pleasantly surprised with this polish and this entire collection.  Selena is a gorgeous creamy peach color, right on the border line of a neon.  Is there a such thing as a pastel neon?  Well there is now!  Usually I have a helluva time with these pastel colors, but this one gave me little to no grief.  A little spotty but a 3rd coat takes all the pain away.  Can't wait to put this baby on come spring time!!  I have big plans for her!

Cult Nails Flushed:

I know, I know...technically Cult Nails is not a mainstream brand but I love this one so much I just couldn't leave it out. I'm not planning on doing an indie top whatever list so I snuck her on. I'm sure no one will mind, I mean come on, look at that pink shimmer!! I was really really upset that we couldn't get Max Factor Fantasy Fire over here in the US, well guess who's not crying anymore? I've seen comparison posts of the 2 and Flushed blows FF out of the water!! Perfect formula and shimmer that just don't quit! Easily one of the prettiest polishes of 2012!

Modern Family for NOPI Back in my Gloria Days:

I was thisclose to putting this as my favorite polish of 2012 but I didn't think it was fair considering I just bought this a few days ago.  However I am totally enamored with this gorgeous polish.  I wish I had a better picture of it.  I am wearing this to work tomorrow so I will be sure to get some better photos!  This is such a gorgeous shimmery color, but what exactly is it?  Is it purple, is it dark magenta?  What is that black running all through it?  I don't know and I don't care but I do know that I am in love.  When I find myself dreaming about a polish, yeah, I got it bad!  I am giddy with excitement to put this on again tonight.  What a creeper!  Formula is wonderful.  The part that I love best is the tiny bit of black running all through this.  NOPI really hit a home run with this one!

And now for my favorite polish of 2012, the top of the line, best of the best, beat the shit out of your mama, backflip, stick the landing, punch a baby best of the best....

Sation Tardy Tart:

Isn't she a beauty?  I was so excited when I found this baby at Marshall's, I couldn't even contain myself!  Every single time I get this polish out, I am amazed at how gorgeous and saturated she is.  The formula is perfect and the color is like no other!  I wish you guys could see how amazing she is in person.  I knew the first time I used this that it was going to be my top polish of 2012.  There were many many amazing purples of this past year but for me, this is the end all be all of creamy purples!

If you ever come across this polish, please please buy her and treat her with love!

Well there you have it kids, my favorite 15 of 2012.  My 5 honorable mentions will be coming up next.

May 2013 bring us many more mama smackers!  2012 was an amazing year for the nail polish community and I look forward to many more lovelies!!

Happy Polishing!!
