Splatter Mani

Hi loves, I feel like I haven't posted in forever and it's only been a day.  Our internet was screwy yesterday so I didn't get to post.  Hopefully my fun post today will make up for it.

So I've been wanting to do a splatter mani for awhile.  I have done them in the past but not for a few months.  They are so fun, although sometimes a little frustrating. My kids think it is the coolest thing ever when I allow them to help.  To be honest, they are really great splatterers. (Ok, that's definitely not a word).  They love blowing the polish onto the nail and being allowed to make a mess.

When I was deciding what colors to use, I also was picking out my clothes for work the next day. Low and behold, instant inspiration.  One of my favorite dresses totally is behind today's mani. Have a look see....

This is the bottom of my maxi dress

I love me some tie dye.  I would tie dye my pets, kids, food, you name it... if I could.  It just makes everything better!  So here are the nails that I came up with....

For this mani, I used Maybelline Styled Out as my base color.  I am seriously in love with this polish.  It has little silver specks all through it and it is gorgeous!  It could be a 1 coater but I did 2.  The pink Splatter is Sinful Colors 24/7.  The white is OPI Alpine Snow.  I used Seche Vite as my top coat as I always do, and it really pulled everything together and finished off the look very nicely!

The method I used was to dip a straw into the polish just enough to get the tip covered in polish, and then blow onto the nail.  I find cutting the straws in half makes things a lot easier.  Another thing you have to make sure you do is to blow very hard or you will get a humongous blob of polish on your nail and it will look quite silly.  I was even light headed by the time I was done from blowing so violently.  Hehe

Here are a few with my inspiration dress as the background....

What do you guys think of this?  I don't know if I love the whole splatter thing, I feel like it looks a little messy, maybe unfinished?  Don't know how to explain it, it might be a little too messy for me, even though I know it's supposed to look that way.  I do love how my inspiration piece and my nails ended up matching so well together. I am going to try a few different combinations of polish colors.  I think a light color, maybe a Tiffany blue with gold and white would look awesome.

Hope you guys have a great weekend!!  I will see you all tomorrow with my video tutorial on water marbling. Yes, it is almost ready, I just have to finish editing.  I really hope you guys like it, I worked really hard on it!

Happy polishing, and remember, always stay young wild and polished!
