Pastel Dotticure.....and a blog update!

Have I mentioned that I hate technology? Our internet has been out for um, about 10 days and I'm going quite insane!  Luckily I can set up a hotspot (foxy brown reference anyone? Am I alone in this?) but it sucks up all my data....that's alright though, it's worth it for you all!

Anywhoo's, I've missed you guys!  But I'm here now, so less talky and more naily naily!

I did this little dotticure a few days ago, and absolutely looooved how it turned out!  Check it out and tell me what you guys think!

Mmmmmm hmmmmm, pertty right?  I used Julie G Gelato, Essie Tart Deco and Essie East Hampton Cottage (ring finger base).  I love how the colors just work so well together!

If you guys haven't tried Julie G polishes you must! It's an order!  The formula is amazing and there are some pretty sweet colors to choose from!  I probably own about 30 of them and love em all!  

You guys already know how I feel about Essie so I won't even go there! Perfection as usual, although I must say, East Hampton Cottage is really sheer.  I had to do 4 coats to get it just right, but it was worth it!  So pearly and gorgeous!

Hope you guys enjoyed my little pastel princess!  My next post will be all about the new Milani line that is out (which I lurve) and then after that I am dipping my blogging toes into some makeup fun!  I said before I wanted to venture into actual "beauty" blogging and not just nails, and the time has come to finally get it going!  It only makes sense, if you guys watch me on Youtube you know that I love makeup just as much as polish.  Hi I'm Nicole and I'm addicted to all things girly! 

I'm going to try to kind of tie my posts in with my Youtube channel.  If I do a video on concealer, I'll follow it up with a blog post to go along with it.  I think it will make my blog a lot more "necessary" if that makes sense and it's something I've been wanting to do!  Don't worry though, there will still be a ton of nail art, that is something that will never change!

Hopefully my internet issues will be resolved soon.  Either that or I have to hit the lottery to fund my hotspot necessities!

Black and White and Striping Tape All Over??

Hi muffins, yes I'm still alive...allow me to explain...I was off for a week from doing my nails! Now this wasn't by choice, trust me, I was dying!  (Not literally dying, but dying cause I wasn't able to play polish, you know what I mean).  I used a new nail polish remover and I had a really bad reaction to it.  The skin around my nails got really red and basically peeled off.  It was a hot ass painful mess!  So I didn't have a choice, I had to lay low for a while and heal these babies of mine.  I certainly learned my lesson!  Zoya Remove...you are my one and only, I will gladly pay $10 for you and never complain again about your overpriced ass.

But I'm back bitches and I'm ready to slap some mama's to make up for lost time!  Let's get crackin!

Ok, so I was really missing pretty much all of my nail art tools during my hiatus so I had to do something fun for my return.  I went for my striping tape and then discovered another dilemna...what color do I use??  I haven't bought polish in a while (gasp) and I'm really feeling kind of blah about my massive collection.  Wah wah wah, get over it woman!

Bottom line is I decided on black and white because I couldn't make up my sweet little mind....ladies and gentlemen, please feast your eyes on exhibit A...

I am quite happy with how this little peach turned out...I'm ready to slap somebody's daddy over this little number, I don't discriminate. I started off with no idea what I was doing.  I painted my whole hand white, (Julie G. White Orchid to be exact) slapped some Seche Vite on and thought to myself...now what?

A little striping tape and a medium sized dotter later, this is what I came up with. Oh and the black polish I used was Layla Ceramic Effect Pure Black. 

 For those of you not sure how to work the whole striping tape thing, I have a tutorial on my YouTube page (YoungWildandPolished) and I also have a few other blog posts that go into detail.  Basically you paint on your base color, add a quick dry topcoat, (I highly, HIGHLY suggest Seche Vite), wait about 10 minutes, add striping tape wherever you want, slap on a second color, immediately remove the striping tape and Voila!!

Once you're all finished up, all you have to do is topcoat and backhand the person closest to you....

(Please overlook the dry spots around a few of my fingers.  It's not dry cuticles, it's still from the dreaded polish remover that didn't know how to play nice.)

I've missed you all, and I'm so happy to be back.  I have lots of fun nail art posts coming up and a few makeup related ones also.  It's a whole new world for me to jump into the world of makeup and swatching blush and lipstick, but I think it will be fun.  If you guys decide you're not interested in the makeup stuff and want me to stick to nail art, that's fine also.  I'm here to please, my wish is your command, basically what I'm trying to say is...I'm your bitch, whatever you want, you shall get!

St. Patty's Day, or As Close as I'm Gonna Get!

Hi love bugs, how is everyone on this fine evening? I had a busy weekend of organizing!  I finally got my Alex units from Ikea, and I can proudly say I am the owner of a gorgeous vanity! Finally....I have been "storing" my makeup (and a lot of it) on our spare bed in crappy little containers.  I am so happy to finally have a big girl vanity!  Make sure you guys check out my makeup storage video coming up on YouTube.  I'm editing that bad boy right now!

Back to polish....so this mani was one that I did for St. Patty's Day.  It's green but that's about the only thing that makes it good for this holiday!  I just don't love this holiday.  *ducks down to avoid getting beaten*  I don't know why, I just feel like the green beer and the beads, ugh not my style.  I'm not a big drinker so we don't go out for green beer, I don't have a lick of Irish in me, other than my beloved Notre Dame Football, I'm just not a St. Patty's kinda girl.  But kudos to all you Irish kids out there, enjoy your day!  Nothing against the Irish, honest!

Ok nails, nails, sorry.  Have a lookie loo and then we shall chat....

I must say, this turned out way better than I originally thought!  When I told my hubby I was going to attempt a St. Patty's Day mani he just chuckled.  Bitches be trippin yo! 

My index and pinky fingers are 2 coats of Julie G Holla-Peno.  

My middle finger (and my favorite mama slappin finger of the bunch) is done by the "splatter" method.  I painted my nail with 2 coats of Julie G White Orchid (yes this whole mani is done with Julie G colors) and waited for that to dry.  I then dipped the tip of a straw into Holla-Peno. I held the straw about 6 inches from my nail and blew the polish onto my nail using a fast and hard breath.  If you blow slowly (get your minds out of the gutter people) you will get a big blob of polish on your nail and you will have to start over.  After you throw the polish across the room and punch yourself in the face that is. I've done it many times, it's a real pain in the ass!  Short and fast breaths peeps!  Let that dry and do the same thing with black polish.  I used Julie G Black Sheep.

My ring finger is basic black polish and Julie G A Star is Born on the tip.  I painted half way down the nail, let it dry, painted 1/4 down the nail, let it dry then did the very tip of the nail.  I also place glitter with a toothpick if need be to get it to look just right.  

And of course, my thumb....you guys have seen these dots before, I even have a tutorial on my Youtube page.  Different sized dots just scattered on the nail.

Sounds gruesome eh?  It's not, in fact it's super cute and oh so chic!  I am so excited for this post! I am totally obsessed with this product and I think you will be too!

I got the chance to do a review for April from Make It Stick and I haven't been the same since. April is the creator of this genius idea and I seriously wish I would have thought of it because it really is awesome.  Sometimes when I do these reviews I wonder if you all think I am saying nice things just to, well, be nice.  I can assure you I do not.  I will put a bitch on blast in a hot second if the product sucks.  In the nicest possible way, of course.

But there's no blasting going on today.  I honestly am in love....with what you say?  Nail decals....of all shapes and sizes, and colors and....oh I could go on and on.  Let's take a look and I'll explain more.

A Lunchtime Quickie!

A Kitchen Sink Mani does a Body Good!

What a day!  I'm so glad to be home in my jammies getting ready to paint my nails and watch a little Dexter!  It has been pouring buckets here all day.  Ahhh good Pennsylvania weather, can't beat it!

So today's mani is the result of me purchasing a few new colors and not being able to wait to wear them.  Instead of wearing just one as a normal person would, I had to incorporate both of them into this mani.  It's the impatient Greek in me, what can I say?

But I do love how it turned out....

I originally was going to stamp something on my ring finger but I think the flowers turned out quite cute!

Colors used were: China Glaze Glistening Snow (pinky)

                            Revlon Urban (Navy)

                            Julie G Damsel (Pink)

                            OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls (White)

So after a little momma smacking and kid beating, I realized that I really love pink and navy together. Revlon Urban is nice because it's not quite a deep dark navy.  Sometimes when I wear a dark blue, it ends up just looking like black and this one actually kept its nice vibrant blue color.  Urban is new from Revlon and is part of the Urban Nights/Bubblegum Days Collection.  This little lady has been outshadowed by Girly and Heavenly, 2 super fun glitters that seem to be fan favorites.  If you come across this collection make sure to pay attention to the nice creme colors and not just the glitter babies!  Urban is definitely a nice addition to any polish stash.  I can easily say it is unique in my collection!

Damsel is one of the newer polishes from Julie G.  This brand can be found at Rite Aid and is quite inexpensive but you would never know it from their polishes.  With creamy super saturated colors, you easily could confuse these for a much pricier polish.  I have yet to be disappointed with a polish from this line.  I probably have about 25 of them and I love every single one, color and formula!  And spending less than $4 for a bottle of polish....yeah...count me in!

Julie G Cabana Boy and a Preview of White Owl Lacquer

What up home skillets? Is it Friday yet?  This week is dragging and so is this stinking winter!! I wish I was in Australia right now enjoying a little summer sun!

As you guys probably know if you follow me on IG....I am a huge fan of Julie G brand polishes.  They can be purchased at Rite Aid, they are inexpensive and they are freaking amazing!  Colors to slap a baby for, nice smooth creams and gorgeous glitters!  So I was at Rite Aid the other day and I cruised by the Julie G aisle as I always do.  I was quite thrilled when I realized that the new collection was sitting there and I swear I heard a little "please take us home, we hear your house is a polish playground".  So I grabbed a few and I couldn't be happier.  I will most likely go back for the rest very soon.  I'm a sucker for some Julie G!!

Cabana Boy is easily my favorite of the bunch.  It is a gorgeous saturated bright blue cream with a formula that just don't quit.

She reminds me a lot of Sally Hansen Pacific Blue and Nails Inc Baker St.  I love this formula better than any of them though!  It is so creamy and opaque.  I used 2 buttery coats and topped her with a coat of Seche Vite.  

Of course I had to top her with something but I didn't want to take away from the gorgeous color. And I had just the thing! White Owl Lacquer in Phoenix Tears was just the girl for the job.  My friend Mara recently put out her own line of polishes and was kind enough to send me one of each to try and review.  (The rest are coming up Saturday, can't wait to share them with you!!) I will go into much more detail  about the line and how amazingly awesome Mara is.  But for now I would like to introduce you to Phoenix Tears and the debut of White Owl Lacquer on Young Wild and Polished. 

Obsessed is an understatement.  PT is such a fun glitter topper and is so versatile. Application was a dream, no fishing for glitter and no clumps at all!  I always worry when I review something for someone I call a friend but I can honestly say Mara has hit it out of the park with this line!  She deserves everything great that is coming her way!!

Mara describes the glitter as "white snowy glitter with a touch of sparkly blue, green and purple in a clear shimmery base."   It was exactly what I was looking for and possibly my favorite of the collection.  But more on that Saturday!

Christmas a Little Early...Julie G Christmas Collection

What's happening nail lovers?  Everyone keeping their cutes nice and moisturized in this frigid weather?  (I assume since it is freezing in PA it must be freezing everywhere).  All you warm weather lucky ducks, keep your healthy cuticles to yourselves.

So a few months ago I discovered a polish line at Rite Aid called Julie G.  I grabbed 2 polishes just cause the colors were nice, brought them home and they sat.  They got pushed to the back of the line as all the fancy OPI's and Essie's bullied their way to the front of my stash.  Well I pulled out one of these little babies the other day getting ready for my saturday swatch day.  I can now safely say, Julie G, you are in the front row of my stash and I hope you can forgive me for neglecting you for so long.  I am almost ready to say that this is my new favorite brand of polish, like not just drugstore brand, but brand brand!  Julie G is what's up, as my 16 year old would say. 

So today I have the first 3 polishes from the Christmas line.  Tomorrow I will do the last 3.  When I saw this line in the store, I thought they were pretty but I wasn't doing backflips.  After using them, I did a backflip round off mix and I slapped my mama as I stuck the landing....

First up is the lovely Gift Wrapped ...

I really tried to capture the shimmer in this beauty.  My fingers were twinkling like crazy!  The color is very pretty, a deep pink, what I want to call magenta.  I'm not the greatest at being technical with polish colors, I know it's dark pink and I know it's really flippin pretty.  What got me was the formula.  The above pics are 2 coats, and those 2 coats went on like silk.  Even as I played around with getting more shimmer to a few spots, I had no spotting, no pulling, just perfect polish that dried to a shiny finish.  I didn't even need topcoat, and I always use topcoat.

The whole time I was applying this polish, I kept thinking of the naughty lingerie that looks like a sexy Mrs. Clause outfit, haha, it's the perfect color. 

 

I am not a fan of red polish.  I have gotten a lot better with it lately, I actually have a few reds that I like quite a bit.  This happens to be my new favorite red!  It is perfect for the holidays.  Again, major shimmer and a formula that can't be beat.  Above picture is 2 thin coats.

 

A lot of reds that I use, even though they are obviously not a light color, leave the dreaded visible nail line **gasp**.  It must just be a red thing.  I was pleasantly surprised when this little lady covered perfectly and totally opaque in 2 thin coats. 

 

 

Finally we have my favorite of the bunch Light It Up, which also happens to be the glitter of the bunch.  I didn't do a full mani of just the glitter, but I did accent both of the above polishes and I also have a little extra treat for ya!

I was very surprised that this glitter was as versatile as it was!  I have to be honest, when I saw this I almost passed right by it. Who needs another multi colored glitter in a clear base?  In fact, it took me 3 trips to Rite Aid before I bought it.  I am so so so glad I did. 

 

This glitter is made up of multi colored hex glitters, small and medium in size.  Also mixed in are tiny silver micro glitter.  Out of all of the colored glitters I own (which happens to be waaay too many), I have to tell you, this is a front runner for favorite!  There was no curling of glitter and application was a dream.  In the above pics, I didn't use tape to get this look, I simply dabbed and dabbed until I got it right.  At no point did the glitter get clumpy or thick and messy.  I don't know that I've ever had that happen.

Isn't this so pretty?  I usually am not one for glitter over a color other than basic black, but I am so obsessed with this glitter, I am ready to sprinkle this beetch on my salad!  Every color of the rainbow is in this little bottle of goodness!  I could go on and on about Light It Up!  Have I mentioned that these polishes by the amazing Julie G retail for $3.99?  Yeah, I know, amazeballs!

 

 

Here is a mani that I did just yesterday using Julie G Stiletto and the lovely Light It Up....

 

 

 

 

I know it's not a Christmas color but I couldn't resist.  My ring finger is an example of Light It Up being used as a full coverage glitter.  2 coats and she was good to go!! I just dabbed the glitter to get the gradient effect on the other nails. 

 

Thank God my mom was out of town, cause she would have gotten the beating of a lifetime!  Hehe

 

 

So for the first 3 polishes, I must say Julie G has hit a home run!!  The colors are gorgeous and the most important part of the collection in my mind, the ever present single glitter polish is hands down one of the best I have ever used!  I am keeping my fingers crossed that this line comes out with many more glitters because they truly are on to something great!!

 

 

The final 3 polishes will be coming soon!  Look forward to more gorgeous colors and great formulas!
