Striping Tape Mania....and a Beautiful Bargain!

Hello friendships, hope you're all doing well, smacking mama's and such. I am doing great, especially after the little polish gem I found a few days ago....don't fret, you're getting in on the action right now!!

The 2 mani's I'm going to share started with one little polish that cost me a whopping dollar! I fell in love with the baby from the second I saw it sitting in Kmart all alone, just waiting to be taken home and loved.

Violence in a bottle!

It's so gorgeous, I just want to slap a newborn! This, my friends, is Wet n Wild Teal Slowly and See.... possibly the best bright blue polish I own....did I mention this cost as much as a Mcdonald's Double Cheeseburger? 

The color is divine, I suddenly have the urge to pack up my super uncool tankini and head to the Caribbean! But....the formula is also perfect! Opaque in 2 coats, no streaking, no patchiness, just smooth buttery goodness!

This little lady is limited edition so get your pants on and get rollin. The Wet n Wild Pop Art Collection won't be around forever....you can bet the farm I'm stock piling this beauty!

This little vixen inspired 2 fun manicures....

It's been awhile since I've done a kitchen sink mani...everything but the kitchen sink...and I certainly satisfied my urge with this design!

My index and middle finger are just 2 different designs I made while playing around with the striping tape. Both had the pleasure of wearing Teal Slowly and See...on my index finger I started with a base of Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet and on my middle finger the base was Essie Blanc. My ring finger is a gradient of TSAS and Mint Sorbet. I topped it off with INM Northern Lights, a really pretty and subtle glitter topper. 

My pinky finger is one of my favorite silver glitters, OPI Crown Me Already, a beautiful micro glitter with larger glittery pieces throughout. The formula is awesome, 2 coats and she's totes opaque...and oh so mama slappin shimmery! 

Everything got a good smearing of Seche Vite and I was on to the next.

The next little number is another fun one....

Yep there's that blue beauty again!! And I had to add a little sass to it, you know me! Although this polish is so gorgeous, I'm just fine with wearing it alone!

On my middle finger, I layered on 2 coats of China Glaze Some Like It Haute, a beautiful black based glitter polish with silver flecks scattered all about.  I forgot how gorgeous this was...so glad I dusted her off and gave her some work! My ring finger is what I refer to as a "dry marble". It's extremely easy to do...simply put on your base color...a bit thicker than you normally would (black in this case) then immediately put droplets of another color (Teal Slowly) on your nail and swirl with a toothpick. It really is a simple design to do, the main part is getting the droplets blended while your base color is still nice and wet.

This is one of those designs that even if you mess up a bit, it still looks super cool....the dry marble is so forgiving!!

I've definitely found my polish obsession of the month! I could wear this polish everyday and be perfectly content (at least for a week or two, come on...this nail whore can only take so much)!!

Essie Van D'Go and a Sassy Camera Shy Neon!

Hi guys!! *waves furiously*  I have been sleeping like crap lately and I feel like my entire "routine" is a bit willy nilly, if you know what I mean. One little hiccup and the whole day goes to hell in a hand basket.

Anywhoo, I did a few swatches for you lovely people.....it's been a while since I've sat down and just tried a color without going balls to the wall with nail art.  *gasp*  No nail art?! Nope, not tonight, but don't fret my pets, I have a super fun 4th of July post coming up in the next day or so with lots of nail art madness!

The first act of the night is Essie Van D'Go:

Suddenly I feel like beating a baby....is that wrong of me?

This little gem is a classic!  This was one of my first ever Essie polishes.  I wore this before I was nail polish obsessed!  Yes, there was a time I walked this earth and didn't think about polish 23 out of 24 hours of the day.  It was a sad sad time and we won't talk about it.  :)

This polish reminds me a lot of one of my all times faves, Essie Fiji but it's a bit more on the peachy side of the rainbow.  She is totes opaque (yes I said totes, shoot me) in 2 coats and the formula is great.  Most milky pinks tend to be streaky and a real pain in the arse but not this little lady!  I had no issues with streaking (she kept her clothes on the whole time) or those dreaded "bald" spots.  Definitely will be seeing this beauty in my July favorites!

Next up is a gorgeous polish that is a bit camera shy and none too photogenic, China Glaze I'm with the Lifeguard:

This typical neon pageant queen took one look at my camera and gave it the middle finger!  She was not interested in smiling or posing.  I even tried dancing a stuffed animal above the lens while saying, "lifeguard look at mommy, come on, look at mommy". Yeah no luck.... she called me a bitch and told me to take a hike.  Ungrateful little heifer.

Either way she is a gorgeously perfect polish!  A bit brighter in person but what's a little "not perfectly true to color" between friends.....can you tell I"m a bit OCD when it comes to making sure you guys get perfectly spot on pictures?

This polish is the bomb.com, there I said it....the freaking bombdotfreakingcom.  Nobody does summer neons like China Glaze, nobody at all. This hot mama is from last year's collection but ever so worthy of a 2013 appearance!!  Every summer they come out with an amazing summer line of polishes!  I look forward to it every year!  I do have an entire post coming up dedicated to the beauty that is the China Glaze Summer Neon 2013 line!  IT...IS...AMAZING!!

The formula on this little shy girl was typical of neon polish....sheer but easily buildable.  I used 3 coats for the above picture.  Other than that the formula was great!  Easy peasy lemon squeezey!  This is a beautiful color to wear on toes with a little bit of a tan....I can already feel my hand tingling with mama smacking excitement!

I am loving summer so much and I am totally (I already used up my "totes" quota for the night) taking advantage of neons and gorgeous summery shades!  

What are you guys loving for summer?  Do you lean more toward girly pinks or "in your face" neons?  I can't choose, you guys know I love em all!  If it's in a glass bottle and has a little brush, I will put it on one of my ten appendages!

Illamasqua Heaven....and the clouds to go with it!

Hi babes, did everyone have a nice weekend?  I cleaned and sat poolside for a bit.  Uneventful but that's sometimes a good thing right?  I am ready to get back to filming and a face of makeup tomorrow! 2 days without makeup is way too long for me....does that sound silly?  Doing my makeup in the morning has become sort of a ritual of sorts for me.  I miss it when I don't get to do it....such a girl!

On a brighter note, Dexter starts tonight!!! Are any of you as obsessed as I am with that show??  I won't go on and on but I will say that I will cry buckets when it is over for good! Buckets I tell you!!

Focus woman and get on with the nails....

I got bored at the pool (no offense mom, you were playing with my kids at the time) so I picked all of my polish off.  Nothing I hate more than chipped picked off polish so I ran right home and got these biatches in order.  I was a bit stumped on what to do so I pulled out the ol' Illamasquas and got down to bidness!

Whaddya think?  I almost did a gradient, then a dotticure but I settled on clouds.  I must say I love these colors together!  I do feel myself getting into a bit of a "routine" with my nail art.  I need to expand my horizons, any ideas for me? New things to try out, something I haven't tried before?

If you're not sure how I did these cute little clouds, here's a little tutorial I did a few months ago that should help!

Illamasqua Jo'Mina, Illamasqua Noble and China Glaze Glistening Snow were my choices for this mani.  Everytime I use these Illamasqua beauties, I don't ever want to pick up another brand of polish!  The formula is unreal, seriously unreal!  They go on like buttah and are so opaque it should be illegal!  Mama smacking is a definite if you use any of these sexpots so get your hand greased up and ready to do some damage!

Glistening Snow is another polish that I cannot get enough of.  It's from the China Glaze Holiday 2012 Collection and I picked it up on a whim.  Now, as my only bottle gets close to empty, I am smacking myself (I guess this could be considered self inflicted mama smacking) because I didn't grab 10 backups.  I LOVE this glitter polish.  She is totally opaque in 2 coats and so incredibly beautiful!  I don't have any other glitter polish that goes on so smooth and opaque.  China Glaze needs to make this part of their core collection because it is amazing, excuse me.... AMAZING!!  The glitter is so finely milled and micro perfect that it just goes on like a regular polish but you get all the shimma shimma of a chunky "doesn't play nice with others" glitter.  I will be cruising Amazon for a few backups because this is definitely a polish I cannot live without (drama queen in full effect tonight kids)!

Alright, I hear my serial killer boyfriend calling me from the tv, until tomorrow my loves!

Bestie Twin Nails with Armstrong Amber!

Hi buttercups, how are we all on this lovely summer day?  I never want it to end...every morning I wake up and feel slightly sad cause I know we are one day closer to winter.  Blah!  I am definitely loving every second of this hot gorgeous summer weather.  If only PA would be warm all year, that would make me one happy little nail whore.

Nails Nicole, nails....

So my lovely friend Amber (on the streets we call her Armstrong Amber, you know how we roll) and I decided to jump on the twinsie nail train and ride that sucker into the sunset.  If you have no idea what I'm talking about (happens alot, I'm starting to develop a complex) allow me to explain.  Bestie twin nails, bestie twinsies, best friends for life ride or die bitches, whatever you'd like to call it is something that started on Instagram (I think) and is a fun and simple way to showcase nail art and friendship.  2 or more girls get together and plan a manicure to do together using similar colors and designs.  The finished product is a big fat bestie twin sandwich!

Amber and I have made this a monthly thing so you will be getting BT nails once a month! ( I couldn't bring myself to say bestie twin again).  This is what we came up with for June....

Pretty dang cute eh?  Amber's beauties are on top and mine are on the bottom.

We used Essie Off the Shoulder, Essie Mint Candy Apple, and China Glaze Glistening Snow.

The gradient is very simple to do even though it looks a bit tricky.  I put down a white base and topped it with Seche Vite.  After that was dry (about 15 minutes) I took a damp makeup sponge and added my 2 Essie colors.  I dabbed that onto my nail a few times, let it dry and did a second layer.  Seche Vite on top and you're good to go!  I will have a tutorial coming up on my YouTube channel (youngwildandpolished) very soon!

Flower Nail Art and My New Favorite Pink Polish!

Hi my loves...what a crappy day I am having.  Ever have one of those days where nothing seems to go right? Well, that's today for me!  Just got done fighting with the insurance company.  I do feel a bit better after telling some really intelligent gentleman off (can you smell the sarcasm) and calling him a turd face.  Yep, first thing that came to my mind....turd face...what can I say, I'm super mature!

Anywhoo...I did some nail art last night and am very excited to share it with you all.  I am very pleased with how it turned out.  I realized that I hadn't done my trademark flowers in a hot minute so I got my self together and this is what I came up with....

Slap your mama and call her Fannie....first that came to mind, don't judge me people.

I loved this design so much I even did it on ma toes.  I won't show you a picture, trust me you will thank me.  My toes do NOT need to be front and center on anyone's computer!

I used a new polish for this little diddy....Elle Pink about It.  I picked it up from Kohl's and it may very well be my new favorite pink polish!  Formula is amaze balls.  It reminds me of Essie Boom Boom Room but *gasp* better.  It applied like buttah and the color is so opaque and beautiful! I used 2 coats for the pics above.

I also used Essie Licorice, Essie Blanc, and China Glaze Glistening Snow. My bottle of Glistening Snow (from the 2012 Holiday Joy Collection) is quite low which equals extreme sadness because this glitter is so good!  Full coverage and shimma shimma to beat the band!  I usually end up with visions of someone's mama being taken down by an enormous life size boxing glove every time I wear it!

Mustaches and Chevrons and Barbie Heads....Oh My!!!

Sounds gruesome eh?  It's not, in fact it's super cute and oh so chic!  I am so excited for this post! I am totally obsessed with this product and I think you will be too!

I got the chance to do a review for April from Make It Stick and I haven't been the same since. April is the creator of this genius idea and I seriously wish I would have thought of it because it really is awesome.  Sometimes when I do these reviews I wonder if you all think I am saying nice things just to, well, be nice.  I can assure you I do not.  I will put a bitch on blast in a hot second if the product sucks.  In the nicest possible way, of course.

But there's no blasting going on today.  I honestly am in love....with what you say?  Nail decals....of all shapes and sizes, and colors and....oh I could go on and on.  Let's take a look and I'll explain more.

Saturday Swatch Spam....on a Sunday?!

Hi loves, you guys know I do lots of swatching on Saturdays and this week was no different.  I did manage to get lots done while catching up on season 4 and 5 of Dexter.  I have realized 2 things in doing this.....I have no life and....I kinda like it that way!!

 I have lots to show you today so lets get right into it.

First I'll show you a few polishes I reviewed from the Urban Decay Naked Polish Palette:

Sidecar:

What in the name of Buttercup is going on with my pictures?  I used a new watermarking app and it gave my pictures a little border. Fucker.  Oh well, on to the polish, I'll reprimand my computer later.  

Sidecar is a flesh toned polish with a ton of silver sparkle throughout.  I really liked how it looked but I would have liked it even more just a tad bit darker.  It matched my skin just a little too well.  For some reason I felt like I should be saying "it puts the lotion on it's skin or else it gets the hose again".  A little too much skin going on for me, but it is a gorgeous color!  Formula was nice....3 coats, no topcoat.

Hustle:

Yum, just fucking YUM!  You know I slapped my momma over this baby!  I really didn't think I would like this when I saw it in the bottle, but on the nail....catch me I'm falling!! Deep gorgeous brownish purpleish beat your babyish color! 2 easy coats and 1 coat of Seche Vite.

Creep:

My favorite of the 3, hands down, this baby sparkled like nobody's business!  And the formula was perfect!  When I saw this one in the bottle I thought, oh great, another black polish with silver sparkle....yawn.  Yeah, I was wrong.  I love this polish! 2 coats and Seche Vite.

Next I swatched 2 Sally Hansen Polishes I purchased recently, I wasn't too thrilled with the colors but after I put them on, I realized I had a hidden treasure!

Pat on the Black:

Nice, vampy but I wish this were a little more "not so black".  If I wanted a polish to be this similar to black, why not just wear black?  I love vampy super dark colors especially on my short nails, but when you can't even see that they are deep red or deep purple....what's the point? One little drop of red or purple and I would love this.  I just wish it weren't so close to black.

Please Sea Me:

Fuck a Duck!!  I'm in love!  I've had this polish sitting on my table for a while.  I wasn't the least bit excited about it....Ermagerd, I freaking want to punch myself out for being such a loser face.  Creamy perfect formula and the most gorgeous teal blue color!!  Sally Hansen, will you marry me? 2 perfect coats, no topcoat.

Oh and you will need to double up on the basecoat with this beauty!  Seriously staining but that's to be expected with this shade.

One last color and a little nail art...

Essie Off the Shoulder:

I'm playing around with watermarks....work with me people.  This one looks like hair on my cuticles. Hehe.  I've found the one that I'm using, it's white and it's curved like the one above, but it's only on one nail.  I realize this above pic is over kill....was I fucking drunk? Holy crapballs!

Anyway, the color is amazing isn't it?  Once you get past my hairy cutes you can see that this pink is just divine!  A classic color that everyone should own....too bad me and Essie have broken up.  I recently found out they test on animals which makes me so so so sad.  You guys know I am a huge Essie fan but I don't think I can support or buy their products any longer after finding this out.  Anyone who knows me knows I am such an animal lover.  I'm that girl that pulls over and saves a little chipmunk from the middle of a highway.  

The list of companies that still, in this day and age, test on animals is shocking.  If you are interested, you can do a google search and see this list.  It's crazy.

Of course this is simply my opinion.  If this doesn't bother you then by all means continue as you will.  These are my feelings and I don't expect anyone else to follow suit.  Just stating my thoughts.

I will continue to occasionally use my Essie's but I will not be purchasing from the brand ever again until they stop their animal testing.

I wanted to give this gorgeous color a little "extra" something so I pulled out the striping tape..

Kitchen Sink Mani's Make Me Happy!!

Fuck a duck, I am feeling good today!!l
I have ma new dotted flats on, I'm having a good hair day and the sun is shining. What more could a girl ask for? A great mani to go along with it you say?? Well you are in luck my loves....

I was on Instagram the other day-surprise surprise-and I saw this adorable mani done by Lissa from Lissa's Polish Addiction. I knew immediately I had to recreate it.

I used Sweet Lavender from Rimmel for my main color. I love this color so much and the formula is a crelly!! A cream and a jelly mix for those of you not down with the lingo. Hehe. I used 3 easy coats for my photos.

My ring finger is China Glaze Glistening Snow, one of my all time favorite glitters. Application was a breeze as usual! I love a good silver glitter. Makes me wanna slap the taste out of someone's mouth!!

A little sparkle, a little leopard and a few polka dots and we have ourselves a winner winner chicken dinner!!!

Everything But the Kitchen Sink....times 2

Ok, before we do anything, I have to get this off my chest.  People suck!  I had 2 really bad encounters today with assholes.  One at work over the phone, which I won't get into too much because I try to keep work off of this blog.  But a patient was super rude from the second I answered the phone.  Then I am at CVS wrestling through the crowd, soaked in sweat as if I just ran a marathon.  (Ok, it wasn't quite that bad but let's pretend).  There's a guy in the aisle and he needs to get by me.  Instead of saying excuse me, he literally knocks me over to get by me, looking me in the eye as he does it.  Now this could have resulted in this man in a headlock with me yelling obscenities at him but I let it slide. Isn't it the Christmas season?  Aren't people supposed to respect and treat people with some level of kindness?  This world is a sad sad place.  I cannot be held responsible if I flip the script and go HAM on these bitches.  (First time using the phrase HAM aka hard as a mother flucker, I feel so Bad Girls Club tough right now!!)

Ok enough incessant babbling, on to the nails.... The mani I am sharing today is super fun and I am very very proud of it.  I must say I have gotten quite good with striping tape and I love it to the ends of the earth.  Have a lookie loo and then we'll talk shop. ( I'm not posting from my phone so this will actually be a big girl post with pictures in the middle)

 

 

 

 

I even managed to do my left hand!!

 

 

 

Pretty bad ass huh?  I am really a fan of the black and white accent nails with the checkerboard pattern! 

 

I used Layla Ceramic Effect Pure Black and OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls for the stripey nails.  These 2 babies have become my go to's for all things black and white. 

 

 I used Sation Tardy Tart for the ring finger accent and part of the checkerboard pattern.  I am such a huge fan of Sation brand polish!! Every single one I own I just adore.  Formula is amazing as are the colors!  I know I've used this one many times before but I just can't stop!

 

 The greenish color I used in the checkerboard is China Glaze Def Defying from their new Cirque line.  It's a very fun neon cream with a really good formula! 

 

 The glitter on my ring finger (and my shy thumb) is Lush Lacquer Salt and Peppa, the worlds best black and white glitter.  It is full of different shapes of, you guessed it, black and white glitter.  What seperates it from all the other black and white glitters of the world is the shimmer. Just enough to be noticeable but not too much to be annoying.  Everyone should own this!  It is so versatile and fun!

 

I put a layer of INM Northern Lights over the entire mani.  I have a slight problem with this glitter topper lately.  I CAN'T STOP USING IT!!!  I think I may need someone to take me to a Glitter Anonymous meeting.  I know there are a bunch of you out there that I should pick up along the way!

 

 

I also did a similar mani a few weeks ago and without realizing it, I made it appropriate for the holiday season. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Just looking at this picture makes me want to slap my mom into next week!!

 

 I love this mani so much!  I know I shouldn't toot my own horn, but I can't help it.  *10 piece band enters room* 

 

My index and pinky fingers are exactly the same as the above mani.

 

Middle finger is done with the splatter method.  I painted the nail white and then splattered OPI What's with the Cattitude, China Glaze Def Defying and Layla Ceramic Effect Pure Black onto the nail using a little coffee stirrer straw.  It's super simple!  All you do is dip the straw about a half inch right into the polish bottle and blow onto nail.  You have to blow hard and fast (dirty minded pervs keep your brain on polish)  or you will just get a big blob of polish on the nail.  I always tape around my cuticle before doing this because it does get messy!

 

Ring Finger is Essie She's Pampered with a coat of Lush Lacquer Salt and Peppa.  This mani is basically the exact same as the above one with a few tweaks here and there.

 

Northern Lights again topped it off all along with a nice thick coat of Seche Vite. 

 

I really am loving this "everything but the kitchen sink" mani that I've been doing lately.  What do you guys think?  Is it a momma smacker or do I need smacked for being obsessed with this mani style?

Dots for Dot!

So most of you know my alter ego Dot. She is a real hot mess. Demanding, obnoxious and a royal bitch. Well she has been a little annoyed with my lack of dotticures so I did this one to appease her nasty ass.

Keep in mind I am still blogging from my phone so all pictures will be at the end of this post. Stupid stupid stupid. A new laptop better be in Santa's sleigh!

I used Essie Mint Candy Apple for this mama slapper. This is a classic color and one of Essies best ever! Light green, creamy heaven in a bottle. I used 3 coats but could have gotten by with 2. Glitter nail is China Glaze Glistening Snow. I love this polish do hard I want to punch my own lights out. Dot accent is done with Layla Ceramic Effect in Pure Black and OPi My Boyfriend Scales Walls.

If you decide to slap a mama over this one, make sure that you wish them a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa or whatever floats your holiday boat. Wouldn't want people to think you are rude now would you?!

China Glaze, OPI and Pixi Oh My!!

Hi loves, hope you guys are all at home relaxing after spending a long day out polish shopping like I was!  I got some beauties today! I do need to stop buying for myself and start Christmas shopping.  Bad mommy bad mommy!  But they were so pretty I couldn't resist!  I will try harder next time!                   (maybe)

So today I am starting something a little bit different.  Allow me to explain....On the weekends and occassionally during the week, I sit my butt down at my nail table and bust out lots and lots of swatches and new designs.  I have an excess of pictures that I do share on Instagram but they don't all make it to the blog.  So I am going to start featuring a few different designs/colors/brands in one post.  Other bloggers do this, but they feature a few colors from one brand.  Mine is going to be an OPI mish mashed with a Layla post *gasp*  the horra!!

I think you guys just want polish, so I'm sure you'll all be just fine!  If not, I'm sorry, shield your eyes from my 2 different sock style.

Ok, now that that's out of the way, let's talk polish:

The first look I have to share with you guys is one that you have probably already heard of.  It's from the new China Glaze Cirque du Soleil Collection.  Have a peek then I'll give you the deets on this baby:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Meet Get Carried Away and Creative Fantasy.  I heard such scary things about GCA (the glittery black topper) that I was so scared to try it because I really wanted to like it.  Well, I didn't like it....I loved it!!  All the things I heard...that it was a thick mess, that it didn't play well, I didn't have any problems with it.  Now it does need to be coddled a little bit.  She's not looking to be pushed around.  I layered GCA over Creative Fantasy, which also comes from the new Cirque Collection, leaving a little room at the bottom so that it created a gradient effect.  I suck at gradients so this is as good as it gets for me!  I really love how it turned out.

 

I layered one coat over CF.  I did the dab method, (very high tech, involves precise dabbing, hehe) so I could get the glitter right where I wanted it. I topped it off with a nice thick coat of Seche Vite.

 

Here is Creative Fantasy all by herself.  I didn't topcoat so you could see the texture of this pretty lady.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This color is much brighter in person.  My camera hates me and hates neons! 

 

I was really happy with Get Carried Away.  She looks beautiful layered over purple!  If you guys have this or get it, please let me know what you think!

 

 

 

Next up we have a wonderful color for this time of year, Pixi Ruby Glitz.

 

 

 

 

 

Oh super large picture that doesn't belong, I wondered when you would be joining us!

 

 

 

Fuck a duck, this is gorgeous!!  I am not a fan of red, as you all well know, but holy balls, this polish is so shimmery and December appropriate! 

 

This is 2 coats of RG with one coat of Seche on top.  Pixi is a line carried by Target (ahem, Tar-jayyy) and they always come out with some gorgeous colors.  Formula was wonderful, I didn't have any issues with this one!

 

 

Last but not least I would like to introduce you to Blue Balls, er, um, Blue Bells Ring from the China Glaze Christmas Collection. 

 

 

 

 

  I don't know why I don't have more pictures of this beauty to share with you, I must have been drunk (again) but at least you can get an idea of how truly amazing this polish is.  Photo's are 2 coats, no topcoat.

 

I have a ton, and I mean a ton of blue polish, but nothing quite like this one!  It went on almost like a foil polish.  When you look at the bottle there is silver running throughout the polish, and when I took it off, the remover and my nail were tinged with silver.  But after 2 coats all I could see was blue.  It's quite odd.  But WOW-ZA, what a bright saturated color!  I punched my mom into next week when I put this pretty on!  Don't fret my pets, she wears a helmet 24/7 after the repeated abuse so she was ok.  (I'm picturing my mom in a cheap ass bike helmet).

 

Ok, that's my nail porn for today.  Do you guys like the new toss up of polishes or is it too confusing?  It's a good way for me to share everything I do on here as I do on IG.
